well i ook her out for a spin and i think the noise i here is the drive chain in the transfer box its on its way out the knocking as if the prop shaft is catching up with the engine when i come to a slow down and nearlly stop i get the knocking so should i wait till it gets worse till it starts to jump or change it now

If your sure it's the chain then change it before it comes through the casing.

Since I mentioned the stalling / lumpy running on my P38a DSE and giving it an 'Italian tune up', It is now running smoother than before and is giving an extra 4-5 mpg.

More smoke from the rocker vent than from the exhaust though. It has problems.

Been out to have a look at it today... and Agreed. :(

Noticed a very small puddle on the floor that wasn't there yesterday. A pain to find but turns out, leaking coolant from the weep hole on the water pump! Bummer huh? Water pump was fine last time it was used... Small leak now, but that means it could blow past the seals and into the bearings? That would be bad. New water pump on order me thinks! Bollocks! :(

Another slight coolant leak... this one isn't so fun. Noticed its coming from in between the cylinder head and intake manifold, rear off side. Very small amount of coolant comes out, do you think it could be doing the same into the valley and that's where the excessive smoke/vapour is coming from? I haven't noticed any sludge in the oil, no mayonnaise yet. But if it is leaking in there that is very bad! :( :( :(

Got any other ideas where the excessive smoke is coming from? Normally I'd say worn rings/bore etc. But I did a compression test before rebuilding the top end and every cylinder was pretty much smack bang on 140 PSI and less than 5% variation between them. So, slightly worn but nothing too drastic I thought?

Mine taught me a lesson today, NEVER leave it running whilst you pop out to drop a letter in the post box. The wind must have blown the drivers door partially shut & it locked it'self!! Wallet & phone in the car..miles from anywhere..oh dear. What a complete tool I felt! Was just contemplating smashing a window when I leaned on the drivers door & it opened up. Very strange. Maybe an issue with the micro switches??

It should not be possible for the car to lock itself with the ignition switched on. Bit of an anomaly that one. Although if you unlock the car with the fob but don't open a door it should self lock after a period of time.

Yep, certainly caught me out! Unless I somehow managed to push the lock down as i opened the door & got out but the door wouldn't have shut? Have noticed it locks again if unlocked but not opened after a couple of minutes. Bloody good job our 2 year old wasn't in the back!

Door would still have shut pushing lock down does not move latch assembly.
