Yesterday took the 60 reg Vogue with the super duper TDV8 4.4 for a spin to Margate. going along the A20 down into Dover sudden rushing sound. WTF.. Possibly an air leak? Burst tyre? Road noise? Pulled over in dover and found what I thought was a road sign at the back of the car, pick it up and put it in the boot, rushing sound gone. Had a look today and reckon the"road sign" was the mud pan from the rear of the engine.
Now we've just had some work done on the engine, a garage replaced the oil cooler and some pipes, would they have needed to remove the mud pan to do that? The front pan is loose as well. I'm not fit enough to lay under the car to try to do it myself.

I've had this sort of problem on a previous Vogue when a garage didn't secure the front mud pan properly.

Head back on yesterday and everything back on. Just need to take the cam cover back off today and do the final turn on the head bolts. Having been promised Mahle it was another bloody Reinz one in the box. I'd better not be doing this again in two years time. I definitely feel cheated though. Don't like being lied to.

Leak off pipe for #1 sprang a leak where I refitted it. Hoping I can get away with cutting a bit off the end and refitting. Diesel all over my garage floor so quite a leak for a pinhole!

After that, need to fashion some sort of heat-shield for the exhaust because the old one disintergrated.

Got any zinc?

Got any zinc?

Used a Freelander exhaust heat-shield, folded and cut to size. Seems to work.

All finished today and seems to be fine. Put the pressure guage on it but nothing really registered, so I think it runs at very few psi at all when working properly!

Took her for a run out yesterday, suffered slipping when it selected second gear... Pulled over with the engine running after shunted out of second and it was fine after that😵

Neither of my keys will sync now. Central locking works though. All very strange. Might be the central microswitch, I guess. I'll have a play with the Nonocom when I get a spare moment.
