Went over one of those rubber speed strips today, it clunked. If that makes a difference.
Also noticed (with the window down) a squeak/scrape when i turn the wheel left or right while moving. Not when stationary. Assume that's a rubber bush somewhere
Mine was an ARB bush that had been trapped in the bracket and was fine once correctly seated.

Straight over or obliquely?
The noise could be the swivel bearing at the top of the strut when turning the wheel - amongst other things, like excessively lipped brake discs, wheel bearing, etc.

Straight over, both wheels at the same time. No opportunity to do one wheel then the other. But only the left wheel is noisy going over potholes.
Makes sense it's the swivel bearing, definitely not the discs/wheel bearings

The only thing in the MOT was;
Nearside Rear Anti-roll bar linkage ball joint has slight play
But that could be a typo, given the nearside front was worn. That's what I've just replaced.

Not yet. I might get chance on Friday while i have lunch as I'm able to work at home that day. Otherwise it's the weekend. I'm not crawling around in the dark, shadows play tricks and make Kermit grumpy

when i was in Russia a stone cracked my winscreen and when i got to enter Mongolia they fined me at the boarder for a cracked screen but gave me a note saying that i had already been fined so they would not fine me again

Did you ever sell your pair of P38As?

Anyone tried these or got a better suggestion?

I got the bt3 version but probably off ebay. I got it with the blue fluid for petrol. It worked well enough

silly question.. i know the answer.. on the 8 speed, the torque converter only slips in the first 2 gears and is locked for 3-8?
driving today in 4th, about 35mph (maybe a touch more) i think, revs dropped to idle when i took my foot off the accelerator. locked up as normal a bit later when things warmed up

knackered TC?

I'd be surprised if it is locked during shifts and it is likely to be speed dependent but what do I know!
