There is a LR garage that I trust(ed) and used previously. Whilst they had the car previously for something I cannot recall, I asked them to troubleshoot a knocking that I was sure came from the front. They advised that the rear knuckled needed doing. And that my rear left diff was leaking.

They never provided a quote for the work and I got fed up chasing, so after some research on how to I opted for doing it myself.

I went to the DIY garage, lifted the car and the rear wheels do not shift/shake. Checked both sides. They seemed fine and one of them had pretty much new knuckles. Checking the font, the drop links seem more playful that one would expect, and would make sense given the noise is from the front.

Did the air, cabin & oil filter change and changed the oil. Whilst at it, noticed that the front right diff is leaking. The same garage did a job previously changing the same side cv boot ( if I recall correctly, they changed the whole shaft). I suspect that they pinched the seal when putting it back in... Might need to give them a call to query their work warranty. And I thought they were reliable :/

As well, whilst changing the oil filter, noticed an oily pipe, suspect leak from the oil cooling? Pics below of it and the rear off side diff leak, suspected seal.

Apart from the diff leaks and the oil pipe, looked nice and dry, had to take something positive after a 4 hours spent on it :D

AA car insurance.
Last year £408
This year £609
Well known online comparison site £244 with same excess. 🤔
Now if only I could except the quote
Looking around these days does seem to pay off.

Do you mean accept? Why can't you accept the £244 quote?
