I resorted to installing disposable nappies under the carpet of our Jaguar to draw the moisture out of the foam on carpet underside to avoid having to pull them out, did the job. The water was getting in through a 5mm gap in the outer door rubber, what a pain.
Tricky
That’s not a bad idea to get any last little bits out, I chucked a towel under the carpet the other day for a couple of days and to be fair that managed to grab a decent chunk of it out of the sponge in fairness.

I’m fortunate enough to have 20” for winter and 22” for summer so definitely locked, wouldn’t fancy having to replace those.
Tricky
Nothing fancy for me, 19" falken wildpeaks, though new all round.
Just realised i do have a set of 4 l322 rims 19", assuming they fit.. not sure it's worth swapping to put summer road tyres on as i don't do huge miles

Just given mine a wash after yesterdays drive up to Lake District had plenty of flies on front end but more worryingly an awful lot of feathers around the back end/ tow bar mounting, either something had been thrown up (unlikely to hit there from wheels) or some bird had miss judged flying under car!

Just for the hell of it, the £1 coin test. Next up a plasticine cup of oil on the bonnet to test my driving skill before looking for work as a Rolls Royce chauffeur.
Tricky
PS I was going to attach the video but it wouldn’t let me!

Ok, a bit more persuasion and think i was twisting the alloy cap that prettifies the wheel nuts. o_O
Managed to get another off, went with such a crack my fingers now hurt!!
If they are that tight I use a fork stanchion / scaff tube over a sturdy T-bar, at a relatively low (level) height and bounce on it a bit. I figure 14 stone doing that is more than I can apply by pulling / pushing by hand. Only needs to just start it moving a fraction.

Pheasants are wandering aimlessly in the road at the moment. Makes a change from peasants.

Well when you only have access to the one car it means I have to be a little bit sensible occasionally as need it to get about, I do still technically have the freelander at the minute though it’s uninsured so can’t drive it.

Managed to give the boot a bloody good slam so the lock catches with cable coming out which means I can lock the the rangie and leave the dehumidifier running over night on my parents drive. Annoyingly a friend borrowed my battery charger the other day and said he would have it back to me this weekend as I could have connected that up at the same time to make sure the battery has a good charge, to be fair I might just connect it when I’m doing the sealing up later in the week.

Now I’ve in theory found everything wiring wise for the lpg I might have a go at connecting it up tomorrow too.

The only thing I’m unsure of is if I can connect the tank valve negative and the reducer solenoid negatives to the same point as in theory they are both just grounds. As my plan is to attach them to the nuts the reducer solenoid negative is already attached too.
When we run the dehumidifier in Otto, I run the extension cable from the outside power socket in through between upper and lower tailgate. If you run the cable inboard of the lights on the lower section and aimed slightly outwards, the top tailgate closes fine without damaging the cable. Then the dehumidifier just plugs into the extension on the back seat. I usually run ours on a piece of board on the centre storage between the seats, so as not to get marks in the trim / upholstery and be able to get to the reservoir easily.

I wasn't sure how much i could give the breaker bar. It was yielding several inches at the handle
The 3/4 wasn't giving, but the 12pt socket wasn't a good fit

That’s pretty much how I’ve run the cable, though I’ve got the rear seats folded forward so it’s sitting on the carpet under neath their bases, I ran the fan heater in there on and off for a bit aswell to hopefully put some of the moisture into the air for the dehumidifier to grab easier. Didn’t want to heat up the interior too much though with the huge nearly full lpg tank in the boot. Over the past few days manage around 2 1/2 litres. Gonna run it overnight again as I’m stopping at my parents tonight on the sofa as I did get nearly enough done that I wanted to do today and didn’t even get to the sealing up so didn’t want to undo all that dehumidifying if there is a bunch of water sitting under the plenum as it’s level enough that even with the rain none has dripped down.

Mate took the mick so didn’t by the time I got back it was chucking it down and when that stopped I knew I wouldn’t have enough time to strip and seal and get it back together. So instead I cracked on with the lpg wiring. Not happy with some of the crimp connections I did but should be fine for testing purposes as more wanted to make sure I’m definitely connecting up the right wires then I can always do it properly and solder them.

Got it all connected up, key the ignition and the button lit up which is a good sign saying it’s on petrol started it up and presumably it must fill the lines with gas ready for when you want to swap over but instantly smell of gas so shut her off pulled the fuse. Pretty much every line after the reducers needed tightening up as it was leaking from around 7-8 places tightened up and there was one remaining leak on the connection to the drivers side reducer, pipe looked like it had been over tightened in the past and split so chopped a bit off as plenty of excess and it still leaked so tried another couple hose clamps that I had to hand and nope still leaking so not sure if it’s actually just not clamping enough or if it’s actually leaking from behind the Barb but it started to rain again and was getting dark so I’m leaving that for tomorrow gonna unscrew the Barb and try reselling it and see if that makes a difference. Then assuming no leaks I might actually be able to get it to swap over the lpg.

While I was under the bonnet pretty much literally as I had left in int to wade height to give it the dehumidifier the best chance of staying level if it decides to self level over time and being only 5ft 3in meant had to pretty much get on top of the engine to reach the lpg injectors to plug them in I found an Earth strap attached to the bonnet but not attached to the other side, any idea where it supposed to be attached?

I'd forgotten about that one! No clue where it goes. It's there an engine lift point on that side? It could go to that?

When you do the plenum foam, don't forget to clear the plenum drains at each end.

Will do, I think that might be one of the main reasons it’s getting in. Probably blocked up or mostly blocked since there is no foam there at the minute so the sitting water finds everywhere else to escape into. Clearing the drains might be enough to sort the leak but might aswell do the job properly since I’m already there.

Having a coffee and will tackle the lpg Barb end first to see if just needs resealing if that doesn’t work, I’ll leave that for later when I can pop down the hose place I’ve went to next week and see if they’ve got something that will work and in the meantime will seal away.

Not to sure I’ll try and have a look but hard to see anything with all the extra lpg stuff as you know that’s why I thought I’d ask at least then I know roughly where I should be looking.

And it’s started to rainy again… grrrr

On my 2001 the earth strap from the bonnet is a wide flat braided plastic covered. Runs across the top of the expansion bottle and brake fluid reservoir then down to the engine somewhere near head (cant see properly) non standard engine so may be different place on the thor.

On the 96 spare car its a thin cable and disappears so don't know where the other end is.

No idea why the bonnet needs an earth, unless its some sort of anti static thing ;)
