Picked up an e39 530d auto same engine as the td6.
Had new vacuum pump. New waterpump. New alternator. new idler wheels. New tensioners. And a good ac pump and tensioner so all that went on my rr for the sake of it.

Its also had a new high pressure pump and heaps of odds and sods and was a mint running motor so handy engine to have sat about.

IIRC, she is a retired officer, memory is LE Major, but I forget. A long time since she blocked me for griping about how sit the army is these days.

Is odd, never thought Goldie was so bad, but what Alan has said, it seems I only every got the public face.
Well being " enlisted filth " myself and if she is an LE then from what i have been told and read she should know bloody better. Its the DE's that were the main problem albeit you did get many LE power crazy knobs too. I think they invented the RMP especially for those types. LOL. We have one local to us who still thinks he is a copper but never was and walks and drives around with a yellow hi-viz jacket on all the time. Weirdo. Some folk just cant let go.

Lots of my P38 items i had listed on ebay have SOLD already which is great news. I think folk can clearly see what a bargain they are getting so snapping them all up quickly.
Still got a few bits left.
Recoups back some pennies for me to soften the blow.

My new alternator is still doing well. Checked battery voltage this morning and sitting pretty at 12.7v.
Once charged up, alternator seems to sit around 13.5-13.6v, i turned everything on last night as a test, both screens, heated seats, blower on full and main beams. Briefly went down to 12.7 then stayed around 12.9v

Doesn't sound that great to me, with everything on you should still expect over 13.5

I wondered, but if you count up all the amps 'everything' is quite a large chunk! Front screen is 35A-40A on its own, if i recall.
I've got an amp clamp, will repeat and see what i get in total from the alternator when everything is on, then see what's going in/out of the battery

Found another coolant leak from another jubilee clip.. again
No it's not over pressuring, just rubbish connections that don't last long

I'm very slowly loosing coolant from mine but I cannot see where from so I am hoping it is something similar.

Was that at 2000 rpm?

A pressure tester is one of the best tools i have! You get to see the smallest drips when the engine is cold and not running that would either evaporate or get blown away by the fan
