Hi all northern numpty back again in the hope he can learn something else!

P38 4.0 1995 RR

Decided to give her a muck out (i use her everyday for work) and when i lifted the mats the Drivers side footwell carpet is soaked - i had heard about o rings but it only appeard to be wet in front of the seat and more to the right hand side (nearer to the door) well behind the rubber square under the pedals - which was dry as is the carpet forward of this and up the sides of the footwell. I was wondering if there is some sort of drain hole im missing when ive had a look around the trim and door as cant see one asim prety sure its just water not coolant. (also my model doesnt have aircon, just two manual dials for heat and one in the middle for fan)

Have got a towel in to mop it up at the moment and hoping ive caught it before it effects the box of tricks under the seat.

i had that same prob on both sides in my disco, (nearer to the door) lifted carpet and sound proofing out, found a nice split in both sides of the floor

There is a Sun Roof Drain that runs down the A Pillar.....check that out! or it could be a leaky pollen filter housing.

hi - it doesnt have a sun roof either - it must be a special edition think it must have been called ' the minimalist' ;-) as it has very little! it does about 200 miles a day often 6 days a week (thank god for lpg)and has behaved 'almost' impecably since i got her in feb so im thinking the less kit the less to go wrong!!

the pollen filters were changed at the last service a few months ago so will check them as that would explain it!

thanks again to all for taking the time to reply, its appreciated.

Just so you know what to look for.
It's not the filters that cause the issue, it's the plastic lids. These were never great and can warp over time and let water in, especially if the scuttle drains (either side) are blocked. This usually happens because the scuttle foam has disintegrated and leaves etc. have been blown in. The water builds up and overflows down the pollen filter channels.

I think nowadays a lesser spec P38 is a much better prospect than one with all the bells and whistles. Especially seeing as they suffer from a multitude of electrical faults!

There is a tech bulletin about this, where water comes in down the wiring harness from the bulkhead. Maybe worth a look.
