Begger! Did the same on mine - the front diff has a guard but the rear hasn't been fitted yet (waiting to get the right bolts). They are worth their weight in gold I reckon! Luckily here too no harm done. By next time I'll have both diff guards and tank guard. And then slightly later new (and slightly larger) tyres - wahoo!

Scar house was a spur of the moment decision by me at the last minute as it was on the way back, i'd forgotton it got a bit rocky part way up and that I was supposed to be leading a gentle trip - ooops & apologies

Was fun though :D:D:D:D

Well Sarah and I have decided not to go to Tong. Its too close to Wales to give us time (or Neil) to fix any issues we might create :D:D

So we dont feel so left out we might have a small laning trip. Anyone else interested.

10th November 2013 Start somewhere around Leeds/Bradford area.

No idea where we might go, suggestions welcome :D

I am away that weekend Sue so wont be able to join you....but I am sure there must be a few people around not going to parkwood:D

No need to apologise at all! It was fun, and enjoyed having a bit more of a challenge :D

I'll check with Mrs E on dates/diary. We'd be really keen to come out again, but will probably need to confirm a bit closer to the time. Happy if it's the same/similar lanes, the worst thing from the last trip was "zipping" through the villages without much chance to take them in or take a few snaps (Sorry Zip, couldn't resist ;) - Hey, we are tourists after all!!)

Off topic: Can someone help me understand a few intricacies of taxing and MOTing in terms of dates. My Tax expires 30 Nov and MOT 6 Dec. If I understand correctly for tax I can buy up to a month in advance, but renewal date remains the same (so if I buy 12 months it will expire 30 Nov 2014)?

How about MOT? If I get an MOT earlier does the expiry date become the date of the (successful) MOT test or stay at 6 Dec?

yes your tax will expire ...30 Nov 2014 and think you can M O T viechle 1 month before due date so that will give you about 13 months M O T ..think this is right

Sorry - should have said if the pace was too brisk, guess it comes with being familiar with the area and having a slightly heavy right foot!

I may look into the possibility of scenic / tourist trip at some point (but still with a few lanes to keep it on topic of course :D)

I thought of that on the Dales laning trip in the summer :D:D

I actually have a route which takes in Malham, Kilnsey Crag, Aysgarth Falls, The Strid  Bolton Abbey and all sorts of interesting places.

There were lanes as well :D:D:D

You can have a vehicle MOT'd at any time; the police can decide to tell you to get an MOT after they've pulled you for a roadside check for example. The date of the successful MOT then dictates the 12 months until you have to go and get another one.
Road tax can be done in either 6 monthly or 12 monthly block. Be aware that 2 lots of 6 months tax is more expensive than shelling out for 12 months in one go. However, if finances dictate, and/or you know the vehicle will not make another 6 months before being scrapped, then it's another option.

Might have a short run out on the 9th to test everything for Wales. Wont be too far, just a few hours in the local area if you want to come.

I think Zip is available that day, don't know if he will fancy a short local trip though. Neil might even want to come :D:D
