I can honestly say that on a good run (London & back) 4 adults and 2 teenagers driving at a constant (where possible ) 60 mph returned 38 mpg. My normal run is to Port Eynon (Gower) to Merthyr, normal to use 3 gals 104 mile round trip. Not bad considering the hills to be climbed on homeward stretch. Local driving (Merthyr) is a different matter, circa 25 mpg.

It snows in summer over in Merthyr :D

Merthyr, very balmy weather, Where I live Top Dowlais we are brought up to fight polar bears. Another record, may have one day of summer around end of June. Now you know why I have a disco.

That's the same reason i got the Landy bug ,I've been boning beef for 15 years up by you in the meat plant. Hated getting caught out by the weather up there

So she has sat overnight pointing uphill and nothing on the floor no drips no leaks nothing. Top of the engine is still as clean as it was when I cleaned her.

So have swapped her round to point downhill see what tomorrow brings.

I liked landies more before I sank one in the snow the other year lol.

Driving along at 5:30 in the morning then whump I had snow above the roof of the 110 spent almost 3 hours there till someone could tow me out lol.

I love Wales and the snow !!:$ lol

Carrying on with the thread - snow. Remember winter 63/4 in my series 1 going to work in a blizzard, no other traffic on roads (think I was on a road) came across a drift, put landie into low box and crawled into drift, problem was it was not a drift but a stranded car. Amazing to see these figures popping out of the snow. At least I freed the car.
Air condtioning superb on series1, heater NONE, shovel needed to clear snow out of landie. Was a good laugh, capabilities GO Anywhere. Purchase price £45. Should have kept it.

This pipe? Water or fuel?
Fuel pipes run on chassis rail to tank. The spring is on the injection pump. Complex item so if its leaking it may be junk. Check pipes like leak offs and others to the pump and also any clips.

Well sorted diesel leek. Seems a can of carb cleaner sorted that problem out :$.

But opened up a couple more lol.

Rocker cover gasket to be ordered.
Couple of pipes.

What's best for cleaning the engine in situ?

Carb cleaner works well but will get expensive quickly. Have tried swarfega degreaser but that just isn't shifting it :$ will gunk fair any better.

Awaiting parts to service her and give her a good greasing and oils.

Dunno about Gunk or Jizer, but for big areas or lots of muck I would say steam.
As to who or where, no idea but you could check with the local garages.

I feel another trip to pembs coming on just to borrow the large steam cleaner ...
Oh and I suppose I must visit people whilst there lol

So i have serviced her. ! Today's list change the doughnut. Check tyre pressures. Start cleaning all surface rust. And look to rust treat.

5 hours to change the donut
3 blokes
2 blow torches
Various lubricators
And some big big bars.

Thank you Brian for the spanners removing the prop from the box was the easiest part and was done within 10 minutes lol

Next job rocker gasket. Oil return pipe . And carry on De rusting

I think I already know the answer .. but I'm just checking with you folks.

Metallic rattling on acceleration and deceleration stops when at 30+.
Not there at idle.

I'm assuming uj's so will be out there shortly checking them all over.

Anywhere else where it may be ?

Yep UJ is on its last legs, have ordered another one.
bumper straightened out, now to sand, and paint
I have a steel wheel here if anyone wants it . tis a little rusty .
now do i ebay the original wheel cover to go towards funding a new lockable one
or do i just keep it here to gather dust.
