Ok so the hardtop is the very one off Ebay - well spotted. I first saw one at the LRO Show Peterborough late 2011.They were manufactured by a Swedish guy who was there at the show to collect Defender parts to take home to Sweden and sell for a massive profit. Anyhoo, I enquired about the hardtop on his Freelander and with shipping from Sweden was around £1200 !! So I snapped this one up when it was for sale on Ebay at Equicar.
Right. The snorkel was a modified copy of a genuine M-Sport one I have. But as 99% of enquiries are from guys who just want one on their road cars, I'm going to look at making one for the off side where the Td4 and V6 air intake is. In Motorsport the air intake system is modified so it enters the nearside of the vehicle. The snorkels (Raised air intakes) can be fitted as they are but there's alot of trunking needed to go to the opposite side of the engine bay.Of course I'll look into further mods for the 1.8 and Tdi aswell. Most of my stuff is aimed at Motorsport, but can also be fitted to road cars . Just look at the pic of my V6 in the earlier post.

Those parts look good RealBeale, nice to see a snorkel with a bit of style.

If fitting a fibreglass bonnet then bonnet pins should be fitted.

It's been designed so that you can use you'r original hardware, hinges etc. It has metal reinforcing plates so that rivnuts can be inserted.Or you can just pin it.I've used the original hinges on my rally car but used aerocatches at the front.

Aerocatches are what I meant by bonnet pins, just couldn't remember the correct name, got a lockable set still in the box in my garage that I was going to fit to the fibreglass bonnet on my other car but managed to get my hands on an alloy bonnet so they weren't needed.

I have a few items up for sale at a reduced rate, so it's first come first served I'm afraid as I'm getting lots of enquiries - even as far afield as Denmark !
3 Bonnets £175 each
4 light pods £65 each
3 snorkels -£85 each
2 tailgates (Off road use only, outer shell and false window, no good for road car) £85 each

Prices will be higher once the website is up and running. The above are offered to anyone on this forum at these reduced rates as they are the first of a new batch.
Collection welcome, but I'm not in the position to post as yet, although you can arrange your own courier.
Regards.......Ian

Sorry, forgot to say - hard tops will be in production from (hopefully) the end of May, just sorting the best way of attaching them to the car, either with original fittings or modified for racing.
What would you like? Hinges and earocatches or original fitment stuff?

Hi guys, long time no post.

I'm interested in this thread and the parts discussed and I'm glad someone's keep up the old Freelander 1 and coming up with some fun ideas.

I don't know if anyone's interested but following mfp2gosling1's comment about 'Aero Catch' bonnet fixings if you're looking for an aerodynamic way to fit a bonnet and not use conventional pins... well, how about these?

AeroCatch Plus Flush Bonnet Catch - Carbon 'look' version.
http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk252/800BHP/EBAY/Aerocatch/CarbonPlusFlushLocking2-1.jpg

I reckon this 'look' alongside something like Escort Cosworth Carbon fibre bonnet vents, with a matt black carbon bonnet (or matt black wrap on the fibre glass bonnet already shown by RealBeale with the integral front mounted light pods in contrasting black gloss/carbon gloss) might look pretty good if you're going for a racy look. Failing that, maybe some nice anodised black/blue/red/green bonnet pins with matt black 'theme' on these that won't rust or look like a mini metro on an rough estate. Personally I reckon keep it as aerodynamic as possible and able to be put through a car wash without ripping any fixings off.

Not that I'm biased or anything. :p

Those vents appear to be UK made or imported from here:

Part Number: 125-3000 Flush Carbon Look
or
Part Number: 125-3100 Flush Locking Carbon Look

I'm not associated to the company, I just like rad looking stuff and being different which is necessary when your drive a hippo as it annoys the Defender boyz!

Can't wait to see your website RealBeale.

All the best everyone.

Do you have any plans to fab a winch mount bumper. Bought a Warrior 9500SD winch at the Harrogate show & now need a way to attach it, dont mind if you use my Freeby as a "prototype" vehicle but I want a bumper that isn't going to pull off the first time I have to recover a Disco ;)

Bloody discos get stuck everywhere!:D

Bit of a revival again for this thread, but...

Been looking at making Freelander stuff as a sideline for an engineering company i run, got access and contacts for laser cutting, bending etc; i'm a time served metal worker with CNC press and CAD background and would be able to bend 8mm ally easy enough to make a full replacement sump guard and eggsauce guard along with anything else.
Also think I can make rock sliders considerably cheaper than the DAP ones retail at.

People's ideas and opinions would be great, as the thread seems to have fallen flat after a lot of initial interest, and some good suggestions from Singvogel.

I'm off to the new member section, to introduce my freebie and get some abuse from the tratter boys.

Simon.

Fuel tank guard is something I'm looking at, considering integrating one into an exhaust guard if possible.

Light bar to fit at front of 3dr roof rails or above the windscreen? Either is possible

Rock sliders in the style of DAP sliderz?
