Hi
I am changing the serpentine belt on my v8 d2 and i know that the v8 has a normal rh thread. However looking at it I still cant work out if (looking from the front) I need to turn it left (unscrewing from the fan) or right (unscrewing from the shaft)

any help appreciated
thanks Andy:)

I always remember that it undoes in the direction of rotation. ie: the drive to the viscous hub tends to be tightening it all the time.

according to rave I should disconnect the battery before removing fan and I have just read another thread about 'saving' immobiliser codes and the fobs when the battery id disconnected. What does this mean ? I haven't had any issues with my other cars when the battery is taken off

You can leave the battery connected as long as you make sure some funny fecker doesn't start the engine when you've got your face by the fan.........

I still need an answer because I am changing the indicator and headlight switch and need to remove the airbag.

In that case you absolutely will need to disconnect your battery and leave for 20 mins before attacking any part of the airbags electrics.

What the books says is that before you dosconnect the battery you should have made a note of radio and other codes. In practice I have found that if you loosen the fasteners on the battery terminals, turn the ignition to position II and immediately disconnect the negative battery terminal (leaving the keys where they are) you'll be ok.

When you reconnect, the systems will 'aquire' the key fob and you'll be fine.

I have disconnected many a disco battery and everything works again when you reconnect.

The odd time I have had to press the button 3 times to lock the car and this seems to reset the alarm.
