All back together now and coolant topped up. Slight "hissing" sound but I think that's either the new belt breaking in or I've over tightened the AC belt. Probably the latter. Tested the blades on startup and the newspaper slows it to a stop. However... after a few mile drive to the shops & back, with the engine now up to temperature, I tested the blades again with the newspaper and it slowed the fan to a complete stop again. It's supposed to cease up with the viscous fluid getting into the clutch part isn't it...?
It's not overheating mind you...
You do not actually have to drive anywhere, blanket over the grill and let it sit there idling. Takes a while. No fan needed in these temperatures when the car is moving, ram air is sufficient.I was thinking that. It probably needs a good drive on the motorway by the time the heat travel through to the fan coil mechanism, too.
