Happy to report no incidents whatsoever. In fact (as someone earlier said, this could be all in my mind), the 50 mile trip to work seemed smoother and quieter than usual.

Now to find some jerry cans.

hi all now 500 miles since started putting veggie in my 300tdi on a 50/50 but about to up the anti's a bit...no fuel filter change needed yet and honestly seems to run smoother .But for piece of mind i might give it a oil/fuel/filter change.doing 28 mpg.

My disco 300 tdi wouldn't start this morning and it had 100% veggie in the tank, I flattened the battery in the process of trying to fire her up. Got home this evening and changed the fuel filter (for the first time since running veggie oil) and a jump start from a BMW 325 and it eventually fired back up to life.

You need to thin it down with at least 25% diesel or 10% petrol, Veggie is much thicker than diesel.

Found some 100% sunflower oil in tesco, £12 for 10l. Not as good as rapeseed but I did get a couple of 'free' 10l containers to help with future mixes!

She doesn't start quite so easily 1st thing now, which is to be expected and I can live with, but since my wife will be the main driver when my new company car arrives I'm seriously considering a dual tank system.

now on 33/66 diesel/veg 600 miles getting a filter change done on monday...my local asda selling veg of 15litres for £14...in my local tesco's 20litres for £20 for sunflower oil(ramadam specials!!)...does anybody know someone in leicestershire willing to fit me a heat exchanger ready for the winter in my 300tdi.Paid for of course..

a heat exchanger will do nothing for you until the engine is warm, when the engine is warm cold veg is not a problem, its starting on cold veg that is the issue.

best thing for winter veg'ing is a twin tank system (incl h/e) or a block heater.

****attention all**** just been on the asda website and it says vegetable oil and sunflower oil in 1litre bottles now 72p.if this looks and is true maybe someone can put it out as a special notice.i'll be checking at my local store in leicester later..

Next time you hear of a good deal make sure you get some for yourself BEFORE you tell everyone :D

Just been to an Asda, timed it right, as they had just had a delivery of 22 boxes (15 per box) and yes, 22 boxes in the back of the Disco :D

Didn't help that I had just been to B&Q for 250kg of sand and 50kg of cement, but even with all that, suspension didn't bottom out...

Certainly not as bad when Tesco had their offer of buy one get one free on the 3 litre botles.....now that was on the bump stops

25 bought first thing this morning @ £0-72 / lt in 1lt bottles. Even though the shop had only been open 15 mins the shelf was half empty, and had started full (I asked).

The problem I always encounter is the wastage ,or rentention, caused by the ridged bottles. I have resorted to keeping the (close to) empties upright to drain back down then cutting them off below the first ridge and pouring out into a funnel into a can of diesel.

Rather labour intensive for the amounts involved, you might say......true,but I hate the waste. How cheap am I ?:rolleyes::)
