Rather labour intensive for the amounts involved, you might say......true,but I hate the waste. How cheap am I ?:rolleyes::)

You would be surprised to how much is actually left in the bottles when you think they are empty - I do the same, although I don't cut the bottles in half, but do drain them again.....

Stu,your motor looks lush ! What are the mods? Do tell......

Thanks

where do I start - they just keep happening and before you know it, you have built a new Disco ;)

Most major ones were the Headlight conversion, as I also took apart the headlights to fit projector lenses (better for xenon) and also LED clusters for the indicators and side lights, plus an LED strip for a Daylight running light. I like lights :D Got 4 more across the roof, and an additional one also at the rear. Have them wired individually with switches so I can use them with the motor switched off as flood lights when we are away camping....or just with main beam…...have installed a second battery that runs them all.

Other things are just the usual stuff…...bigger tires, angle grinder to stop the rubbing  Heater exchangers and injector heaters for the veggie....oh just finished my brake conversion to the Defender 110 vented discs and bigger callipers (as I only had solids) and also my sound upgrade, nothing boy racer, but sounds bloody good for a £100 HU.....as new amp on the rear door to power the new subs, 6x9's in the rear pillars Tweeters and crossovers up front etc - but I am now hijacking this thread too much so will stop there.....

Just been in Asda , not expecting to find much. 43 1 litre bottles on the shelf ! Some sunflower oil and some vegetable oil [rapeseed] £30.96 total. They also had some 3litre bottles for £3.00 but I left them. Noticed while in there 5 litres 10w40 semisynthetic engine oil spec A3/B3 ......£10.00  From what I can gather comma oils supply Asda/ Tesco Halfords and Wilkinsons. Worth getting a couple for next oil change. ..............Let the good times roll :D

Is asda in northern ireland offering the same.

Diesel in Southern ireland €1.45

Veg Oil in Asda €0.82 *taking into account currency rates

nope but there is a limit on how much you can use before you have to pay duty :)

Yeah, 2,500 litres per year - you are supposed to keep a log of what you use ;) although I did hear a rumour that they are trying to get rid of this limit, given the amount of people running veggie - just another ploy to get more money/tax from us no doubt - just hope it stays a rumour.......

wifey just emptied our local asda of the 82 ltrs they had left :) Got some very strange looks at the till with atrolley full of diesel

looking on the hotdeals site and people are buying 400 bottles of this !!!!!

WTF, leave some for the rest of us you greedy ****s

We have 2 ASDAs in town so will be checking them out on the way home

riiight yeh, i knew about the 2500 limit, but thought it was just on used oil! so you pour this new oil straight in then..

i read something about some kinda anti throthing agent that they have in em!? cos i was guna to go costco and buy a load but then was told it is illegal to use new oil, and that it has these agents in that can cause wear/damage..

by log.. do they want receipts for the oil you have bought to be used as fuel??

Some of the oils have an anti foaming agent, some people say this makes the car run ****, some people say it doesnt. I dont think anyone really 'knows' and even if a component does fail who is to say it was the oil, it could have been on the way out anyway.

Don't know if this has already been posted or if it's cheaper elsewhere (last I read it was 99p/L) just been to my local Costco and they have 15L boxes of sunflower oil for £13.99 making it 93.3p/L

Hi whilst the weather is nice and warm with warmish nights use any new oil ie vegetable, sunflower, rapeseed even ktc soya based..(as a last resort).just stick it straight in the tank(not if you own a td5 or newer version)and reap the rewards...just check you fuel pump for leaks...once a week and change your fuel filter after 1st 500 miles and then regular intervals around 3000 miles.job done for me its that easy..(300tdi)163,000 miles.
