Crazy so the diesels have a flywheel housing AND a bell housing and there are numerous different options?!

Sheesh that could get confusing!!

dont know to be honest as i allways use 300 flywheel housing with 300 ,300 block doesnt have those 2 dowels near crank to keep seal correctly placed

I know what your saying but there surely can't be that much flex in the plate to break the seal ? The 300 seal more encompasses the rear of the engine whereas the 200 leaves more open, could oil flow through and fill up behind the bottom of the flywheel housing ?

lrs allways had an issue with oil leaks from rear main bearing caps (around the edges)as well as seal so 200 used a gasket for bearing cap and to seal rear of seal and those dowels for locating ,300 uses the seal housing seperated from flywheel housing ,both work to some degree but its not unusual for oil to seep from both behind the seal

This is what I thought, neither way is perfect but in my mind the 300 design is better, in your opinion is it worth me removing the flywheel housing again to replace with a 300 one and crank seal that I can get quite easily or keep what I've got with the 200 flywheel housing and seal ?

Cracking build and fred. Love the fact that you started wiv an axle swap and ended up doing a chassis up rebuild. Looking forward to seeing the end result...

Haha I know  well it was always going towards being a challenge truck but I never first thought of doing a chassis up build

Right abit more progress tonight, after advice from noisy and mr Martin I've sourced a proper 300 rear crank seal, to fit it I've sourced a flywheel housing off of my mates scrap engine tidied it all up and got it all together :)

Here's the nice clean flywheel housing :)

And the back of the engine ready to go :)

Then everything together clutch and flywheel on, all I've got to do now is make a mounting for the offside of the engine and she's ready to drop in :)

I've also fitted the x brake tonight, piece of **** to get together after a good de sailsburying ;)

Lovely mate, ahhh nice new clean parts, excellent.
