Thanks you've just answered most of th questions I had. I'm doing a 200tdi LT77 to 300tdi LT77 swop at the weekend & the questions I had were, 1) engine mount 2) Exhaust. The only thing different is I'm going to use the 200 bellhousing as it's already got the bolt holes at the bottom drilled out.

No worries fella ;) I was going to use the 200 one but for neatness and uniformity I kept it all 300. You can use original mounts for te engine but it means welding a mount onto the chassis as this would be above the prop and 2. Block my route for rear rad :)
 
Very nice build fella.. had to lol at the chassis spray. Its mad how you go from... I'm struggling to keep up so ill get some tyres... to, lets rebuild it!!

Haha I know :rolleyes: the rollcage was planned but apart from that it was just going to be repair broken bits :rolleyes:

I'm glad I've done it though I know everything is sorted now which is nice :)

Running by Sunday is the plan ;)

God paint prep takes a long time :rolleyes: the rest of the body is going to take forever ;(
 
Body prep takes AAAAAGES, lots of patience required for that job!

Has to be said the brush paint thing really suits me, I like my modified cars to be function over form, can't wait to get another project, time will be spent fettling not polishing when I paint it in brush. This is of course to assume the body is poor and/or made up from various panels etc.

Fancy an old American car you see, money doesn't appear to grow on the particular trees in our garden though :rolleyes:

Anyway BOT, I hope you find the courage to continue with your body, but then of course if its going to be damaged then is it really necessary to get it to a high standard?

Also the side effects of getting quite light headed is another factor :rolleyes:

The brush paint way is a good way to go for a offroad modified motor hides the dents better and easier to repair so I see why you go for that route :)

I'm definitely not going to be this perfectionist about the rest of the body, as as you say it's going to be an offroad motor and so is going to pick up some damage ect, but I'm trying to straighten it out as much as I can for a few reasons, firstly it's personal pride, this beauty is going to be my pride and joy, and as you've seen so far I've spared no time or cost getting things right, I'd like it to look good, but also pro form really well too :) my philosophy is buy once buy right so I'm trying to do as much as I can whilst I can.

Also it will no doubt have the company name on it somewhere and so if it looks rough it doesn't portray a good view of the company, I'd love people to look at my truck and know how much time and attention has gone into it not leave rough edges and bad bodywork.

Plus the bulkhead is going to be well protected by the cage and so it'll be the part that will stay in shape, and the top corners is one part you see the most and so it creates a good overall image I the vehicle if this is a good point.

I'd love a old American muscle car as a project :) either a camaro or a mustang would be awesome but like you said money (and time) doesn't grow on trees ;)

1 more going over with some filler and I think it will be done :)
 
Hmmm, no rush at all, might have just been talked into auto that's all.

Not that fussed but I'd give it a go, would need full setup to play with though :)
 
I has a V8 auto bit if needed :p all you need is that inch thick spacer thing from the back of the crank. Bout £20 for a new one iirc
