Na, was ment to be the towing car for the oss and trailer, but she got impatient and bought a terrano :( but only because we couldn't find a disco that we could afford:confused:

My wife was happy with tickets to the ideal home exhibition on her birthday. Fortunately I was ill and she went with son #2 instead

I hate going inside the M25

Ye, got her some seat covers for the terrano so she is happy :D Meal at the paper mill tonight and a card so I am in the good books :D

Hmm decisions decisions. Saved up for double glazing for the house and got it cheaper than I thought. I have enough to get my front wings for the rangy so thats all good but with what's left do I get the paint for the rangy and try and get it finished faster. Or do I find out if this is still available :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Please reply Paint or SIII

tbh that looks like it would be rotten as a pear, how much time you got on ur hands lol

I think I will have to say paint :-( I know where you are coming from but the s3 would be a whole new can of worms. And two projects like that side by side would kill all your resources.

You would also have to increase the time with the wife to earn extra brownie points, time you could productively pit to th rr.

Btw are the pub nights weekly or monthly? I seem to have dispensation :-D

The pub nights are the first Wednesday of the month.

The S3 would sit in a shed for a bit, until the rangy is fixed anyway. Needs new chassis, bulkhead, doors, interior. So maybe pass on it as you say. Sure a better one will turn up.

Day on the welding, again.

Got the sill fitted, had to cut away the a pillar to give me clearance to get the sill in as I had welded the mounts on, but it was rotten anyway.

Used the arc welder to do the seam on the top and the sides of the B pillar, only blew holes where the floor was rotted so quite impressed, much better weld than the mig as well.

Got the outer arch in place as well, took a bit to get right for some reason, other side went on better, was half inch out to start with and the door wouldn't shut without catching so re aligned and all good now :D

I do wish I stopped finding rot in hard places to fix.

Got it fixed before it got out of shape, found a bit of metal with a bend that was just right.

The end is nigh, few bits of patching on the arches, footwell to weld in and some bits to fix in the back then the fun stuff begins, cleaning the metal off for painting.

Took the pedal box out to make it easier access for welding. As it's going manual it needed to come out anyway.

More work on Friday.

Was good to see djdommyb, welcome distraction :D

Me n dom have successfully retrieved the disco from Leeds. Will post pics later. Windscreen looks good, will let you take it out though, with a bit if help :D

Check with Dom. We are looking to get the body off ASAP Nd junk it. A lot of the steel shell is fecked but rolling chassis and transmission is good. Sweet 200tdi too. Have some things to do in morning so will let him liase. Have you seen the picks on my thread last night?

Just got a quote to have the chassis shot blasted and Galvanized.

£300 :eek::confused:

It will take me ages to clean off and paint, it's good and solid so what are people's thoughts

Has anybody had theres done?

For the time and money it will take you to do it, if you can afford galv will make the restoration a lot quicker and a better finish

I agree. If the outside is poor then so too is the inside.

Apparently land rover have recently developed a new chassis paint that claim will last 10 years. There was some talk of it on the series 1 forum.

Then clean out as much of the inside as possible and waxoil.

It's not a forward step they had paint that lasted 20 years inns act there are sections of paint on the old
Mans 1966 motor unfortunately lead based paint is banned
