Good evening all.

Bit of a update for you all.

I orded a 12ton press a few weeks ago and its looking like its from china and as usual they a messing me about lying about the shipping date.

Its holding me back now but in the mean time im still blasting and painting parts. Mostly the pedals and steering components.

Will post some photos over the weekend.

Hope you all well Landy Lee

Hello guys hope you are all well.

So i have had a busy few weeks. I started a new job and the press i ordered took 3 weeks to come and not 5 days like i said!!

But now the press is here and im back on track!!

I now have the radius arm bushes in and next job is to get them on the axle and get the front end on its springs.

Then i will crack on the the rear axle. I have found a fair amount of slack in the spider gears in the diff so bugger it im going to fit new gears and shims.

@landy-lee what are your suspension thoughts for this build?

My thinkings are Genuine Bushes fitter all round and i also have Genuine LR springs. Fronts are yellow yellow and rear is green white.

As for shocks i will be fitting Koni heavy track raids.

I plan on doing some weekend trips on these springs and see how it feels if i need to i will upgrade to a heavier spring.

If all feels good but the back is bit low i will pop some 1 or 2 inch springs spacers under.

Nice, what made you go for the Konis? Were you planning on sleeping in the vehicle roof tent/camper style?

Also have you listened to the overland journal podcast? It’s a bit American so they take an hour to say what you could in 10mins but those guys have done some serious adventures and there’s some pretty sound advice and expertise in there.

After doing a lot of research i got it down to Old Man Emu and Koni but i herd a few horror stories about the OME shocks braking at the welds.
At this time though i could not find much out about the Konis so i ran a poll on Facebook and instergram and found a few people that ran both and said the Koni was better and worth the extra money. On instergram a guy who works for Devon 4X4 started massaging me and said the Koni is the way to go and they never had a issue with them one Genuine Springs.

If money was no object i would go for the OME BP-51 shocks but at £500 a corner i will go with the Koni at £200 a corner.

I am going to run Front shocks in the rear and use the Gwyn lewis upper shock mounts that takes the pin type and not the eye bush type.

Sounds good mate

I value Devon 4x4's opinion highly - they've helped me with a few things. They also welded my rear trailing arm back on when it snapped off on david Bowyer's off road course. We reattached it with cable ties and a racket strap, completed the course and then drove 30 miles to their garage (says more about the strength of cable ties than my off road skills).

I've got terrafirma all terrain shocks all round and they've actually done pretty well tbh. Cheap. Easily available.

Hi guys

Bit of a update for you all

The diff parts came today and all being well the shims should come next week. All being well the Salisbury axle should be back under the chassis but the weekend.

The Td5 fuel tank is in to.

I have also been painting a few of the last engine bits to go on to.

After the axle is done i will be dropping onto the trans box and fitting the rear fuel lines and brake pipe.

I have herd that customs don't like full jerry cans on vehicles when crossing borders or going on boats and trains so i though a extra fuel tank would be a good ides. Plus i think it will come handy when exploring the gobi desert!
At the docks we had been stopped with 2 x Jerry cans on the landys. We used to empty these before crossing. (In the series 1)
Friend had internal tank(between wheel Wells) & covered over in the rear they found this & made him empty it. He was in a 90.
Funny him going down the rows giving diesel away so he could board the boat.
