Goodies from Paddocks!

I will reassemble the engine over the next week and then hope to get it painted and back in the chassis by the end of the month.

Then i will strip and rebuild the gearbox.

Hi guys hope your all well.

Been busy with work this week so i have just been doing some little prep jobs.

Got the oil filter housing all blasted, cleaned and assembled.

Good afternoon guys.

Today i clean the bores out and honed them. I dint go to crazy just de-glazed them. Im very happy with the finish and the tool is really easy to use.

I also got my self setup to fit the cam bearing one night this week! I think they are going to be a ba*$ard to fit.

Looks a nice finish. Will be interested to see how you fit the cam bearing. They're meant to be reamed in i seem to remember?

Lee you are doing a sterling job. Have you double checked the dimensions of the chassis to confirm alignment of bulkhead and tub. I had major issues with my door because of this exact problem.

what kind of turn around and price for the chassis?

keep going, looking forward to a video at the end of the overhaul. :)

The first ting i did was lay a tape over the chassis. I was surprised how good it is. A few mm here n there but not a mile out and most of them holes are on slots.

Chassis was £3350 to my door and i took 2 weeks because i wanted a Saturday delivery.

Hi guys.

So the cam bearing were a ba@&ard!!!

The problems were restricted room to work because you can only get to them via the hole for the vacuum pump and the oil return cover. Also because the bearing are a split type bearing they will not fit on the cam bearing install tool when uncompressed.

I had to use a hand bearing installer to get them started and in the block about 1/3rd of the way in and then use the bearing installer to drive them home.

It was a bit tricky getting the oil holes lined up so i use a paint pen to mark a 12 o'clock position to help me line things up as when them bearings and on the tool you can not see the oil holes.

The cam is now in and it feels lovely!

A bit of a head ache job but a job well done!

Hope the photos help my description.

Hi all

Had a good day and got a lot done on the engine.

It all went together well with no problems at all.

The only fiddly bit was getting the lip of the camshaft oil seal over the cam.

I still have a few bits todo tomorrow like putting in the cam followers and fitting the oil filter housing.

I have ordered the paint form the paint man so all being well i will have it painted by the week end and then drop the engine on Sunday.

Good evening all.

So this week in the evening i have been prepping the engine for painting and getting the chassis ready to drop the engine in.

The engine is now painted and it looks lovely! I use The paint man for the paint and im very impressed with it!

Tomorrow i will get the engine in the chassis and then i am going to strip the bulkhead and rear axle off my old chassis.

To day i finally striped the last parts off the old chassis.

I have also got the gearbox on the bench and ready to strip.

I had ago at getting off the rear support ring and man it on tight!!!

Heat would not shift it so in the end i drilled some small holes in it to weaken the collar and had another go at getting it off and this time with a bit more heat i come off!! WINNER!

It marked the shaft just a little but but will be fine.

the last 2 evenings i have been stripping the box apart.

So far it has come apart rather easy using bearing pullers and hand tools.

I am yet to fully inspect and clean the gears and shafts but so far the only issue i have found is 1 bearing roller is damaged.

Looking good, Lee.
Any hassle getting the T seals in? I found them to be a PITA
