What did you drive before the Disco? I'm sure i remember the first photos in this thread from another car forum, your goodbye post saying you had moved on to a 4x4, that sort of thing. I could be confusing you with someone else though!

Hi Orch,

I was on CTRO and drove a Silver '03 Civic Type R.

Here's some pics (any excuse ) as it was in it's final incarnation before i stripped it, rebuilt it to standard spec and sold it...

I knew it! Yeh it was CTRO I was thinking of. I've come from a SS Pre-face EP3 as well.

Do you miss yours? Only got rid of mine in favour of a D2 a few months ago. Was great fun, but wouldn't change it back now. No chance.

Ah Haaa!

Hello old friend, I was CivicTypeReplica on CTRO :)

Yes, i miss it terribly, but tbh its more that i feel devastated about the amount of work that went into it, trying parts and perfecting setups, just to strip it all down again more than actually missing driving the car on a day to day basis, and i do LOVE my land rover so it kinda helps.

It was so perfect when i had finished with it i feel like an idiot for doing so, but it was a never ending moneypit (the car was superb but i couldnt help buying mods)

I loved everything about it, it was a track weapon but equally invigorating on the way to the shops.

I have instructed the lad who currently owns it to inform me when he is selling it as i will evaluate buying it back!

It will be worth about a grand by then probably and may just have to take it back.

Will have some sort of stripdown for sure to make it mint, all the things that i was too scared of doing when i was younger (removing the engine etc - land rovers have taught me that big jobs are easy but i was scared when i was 21)

So yeah its a difficult one. But i do definitely miss the pace and the driving experience and i know of no better car for the money than a CTR.

Thankyou for allowing me to reminisce :)

Cheers, Sam.

Those strobes are smart. How much did they cost altogether? I'm after some oranges for mine and want something that doesn't add any height.

I'd even pay for you to wire done in identical to yours.

i paid £20.00 for my led ones off ebay. work a treat can be mounted on grill or on a light bar

Plus, im 26 in April so need to start assembling my dream garage.

Having just one toy is just not acceptable :)

They can be bought much cheaper for essentially the same thing but i am led to believe that there is a difference in quality and brightness, something called Generation 3???

They really are crackin cars. So much fun to drive and so reliable. Had mine just over four years and it never asked for anything. Makes getting rid of such a trusty friend in favour of a landrover seem ridiculous doesn't it :D

Mine was a classic 'baby forces sale'. Kept it initially thinking all would be fine, but three doors and small boot plus baby and all the crap they come with was just too much. Love the Disco now. I'm miss the speed and the fun, but weekends like this just gone with all the snow made me realise that for daily driving and normal road use my D2 wins everytime.

Just need to find space for that track car now that I have something to tow it ;)

We all have to move on, but it has to be said the sheer useability of a land rover makes them quite fantastic to own also.

You are in good hands in a D2 also, welcome to the Bonnet-Up Club! :D

Really impressive Mr Noisy.

If mine turns out half as nice as this I'll be happy.

Have you dared to keep a tally of the costs?

Thankyou bob, very kind!

It takes a little bit of eye, a fair amount of skill, a good amount of money and a **** load of time!!!

I would rather not state it's cost but you need fingers and thumbs to count it...

Cheers.

I think Mr Noisy has spent more on fixing it than Landrover did in building it.

:D

I lol'd, although yes you're possibly right!

What was the retail on these when they were in showrooms in '92??

I have dreams of jumping in the BTTF De Lorean and going back to 92 to buy my car new, would have saved SO much work!!

Better still, go back a few weeks further and 'assist' with the factory build. :D
