Sorry Ian got carried away on that one obviously! Well as I say then the kenlowe hot start is the right idea, but again they're ****ing daft money! You could make up your own with a central heating circ pump and some kind of heater element though yeah.

Personally v8 is toast within minutes so hadn't really needed that particular mod! Dirty diesels do need a bit of help though!

I would say yes rear prop is really going to need it with that super droop. Front prop might be alright as it is for now cos standard arms are shorter than QT arms.

The decider will be how much slip you need.

You might find that the long travel rear shocks need a huge amount of prop slide, so a spacer would cure full extension but make the prop too long for full compression. The only option then is wide angle prop.

It will be suitable up front but you might have problems with angle up front which then needs wide angle prop.

So basically, you're gonna have to do a test and see where it is more necessary, my instinct is rear but can't tell til it's tested!

Yes, the winch is out for a rebuild because its a Chinese piece of **** that shouldn't have been bought. Hopefully with a bit of welding to the internals, some adjustment to the electrics to stop arcing and a good clean I can get it half right again.

hello mate absolutely love this. ive spent a fair few quid on mine now thought i had it how i wanted it, but since seeing this im now after a 3 inch lift and bigger tyres!

except for the castor arms, trailing arms, springs, shocks, brake pipe ext. is there anythuing else you have done?

also mines a d2. the only thing im concerned aboutr is propshaft wear? how have yours coped?

I have just gotten hold of an adjustable panhard rod to complete the geo setup.

Yes yours is a d2 but they are very similar, particularly the body. You could fit a body lift kit which would help with that terrible departure angle whilst maintaining the legendary d2 handling and driveability.

Prop wear wont be an issue on the d2 with the double cardamom front as long as you are aware of its max capabilities, in length aswell as UJ angle. Also the rear doughnut is a problem, but not sure whether you can double UJ a d2 rear prop.

hi, av you fitted the adjustable qt panhard rod yet ?? didnt no if it had sorted the off centre axle, dread of lifted discos ???:)
 
Not fitted the qt panhard rod yet but am looking forward to it. I'm hoping it will drive much more sensibly once the geometry is properly squared up. It must crab a little bit as it is now.

Adjustable panhard rod? How much out do you think the axle is on my lift? I never thought about it crabbing........

How has your self centering steering damper been?
 
Just fitted me qt panhard tonight.

I have between 2 and 3 inch lift, and panhard rod was out by about 2mm. Really not a big deal.

The main improvement is that a lifted vehicle ends up with the panhard rod brackets out of alignment with each other in the vertical plane.

An adjustable item rectifies this, and a rose jointed item allows for unrestricted movement as the axle rolls back and forth.

So that will be ideal.

Self centering steering damper has been excellent thanks, longer travel too.

I know this is going back a few pages but when you rubbed down the chassis and axles what paint did you use on them? I'm well jel of ur disco too!
