Fitted tonight alongside a new water pump, been meaning to change the pump for about 3 years, but no reason to do so running it without a tensioner, it wasn't having a hard time.

It has got damn noisy though of late so decided time was time.

Best of all, it works! :D

Cheers mate

Quiet water pump has highlighted noisy alternator though

I'm about to search your thread to recap on your alternator work

May be some quizzing later :p

So does the aircon pump give enough output to air up larger tyres? Fill from flat?

Thought about this ages ago and asked on here but never got much of a positive, or even knowledgable, answer, hence why I eventually knuckled and bought a T-max .. :)

Mind, many more things to do than on-board air for now, but it _is_ on the horizon ...

Yep, hugely more air than an electric pump of portable size can give

Will do a demo when up and running

But they reckon round figures usual electric pump less than 3-4cfm, AC pump 10-12

And the more you rev, the more air you get.

One guy on LR4x4 said he was airing up and his AC pump was switching on and off because the air couldn't get through the tyre valve quick enough!

Yeah you use the AC pump as a compressor

The AC system has a pressure switch to control the pump just like you need a switch in your air tank etc to control it now

Great write up ^^^ there also

Cheers

Nice fittings acquired for the engine bay plumbing, will convert to nylon pipe and pushfit fittings once inside the cab for the high pressure side but am using the rubber heater hose for the first portion out of the compressor as the outlet can get warm!

Not too untidy :D

Intake filter mounted just inside behind the dash near the steering column, discharge hose terminates in similar position ready to connect to rest of air system when it materialises :)

Far too clean and tidy, will it be painful first time you throw it through some mud? :)

Yeah but I soon get over it

It's built to be a rough and ready off roader and thats how it earns it's living

I just choose to make it the way I do, to be honest I don't know any other way

And, with good preparation and good detergents, it'll come up like this again as and when required

Be under no illusions though y'all, this vehicle is not a show pony :behindsofa:

It's got to be said though...

It would be such a shame to build a disco to that spec and level of attention to detail and not use it! 😁
