As far as I know, the general service items were replaced when I bought my car last month. Is there a way I can tell if the below are needed?

Air Filter
Pollen Filter
Oil Filter
Fuel Filter

Cheers guys.

You can remove air filter and pollen and esp the air filter you will know by how clean it is (or not if the case may be) as to if it was replaced a month back.
Oil filter, no real way of telling, however the colour of the oil could be a good indicator.
As for fuel filter, they are under the hood on TD6, see if there's any dust/dirt on the surface of it, should be a.good indicator (unless somebody h as cleaned it up.

If in doubht, service it again IMO.

When i buy any new car i always service it as a matter of course found out a lot of peoples "it was serviced recently" is often total crap lol

I would plan to do full transmission fluids and filter changes also.

maybe for Summer 2015 if DIY..

I am planning a full transmission oil change. I was quoted 900 inc vat by main stealer, is this reasonable? they state they have to replace oil twice during this procedure?

That seems abit pricey mate!! And the changing the oil twice will be because you cant get all the old oil out in one go. When i did the p38 (slightly diffrent i know) i changed it ran it for a few hundred miles changed it again.

I wouldn't bother doing it twice at the same time if that makes sence. I would just do an oil and filter change, run it a few weeks then just change the oil again. They should be able to tell the state of the box on the inside by oil colour and the magnet in the sump.
I bought a 20L of the correct Texaco oil for approx £85. You will only get out the sump 4/5L, OEM Filter £50 with pattern part gasket.

I would suspect around £250 from an indi per "service", if your doing it twice then double.

Got a quote from an indy @ £540 Inc vat and courtesy car. They apparently have a flush machine and this includes replacing the oil. I suspect this is a decent price?

Thats not to bad if your getting a car for the day as well but would still be alot cheaper to do it yourself.

As above, full transmission oil change.
Transfer case, diffs, gearbox.

You know something, I would probably have a stab at it if I had a ramp but I think a gearbox flush may be a tad much for someone who has only changed filters at the most.

Hard dilemma

Its simple to do just do a bit of research first. and it is just swapping a filter.. drop oil swap filter... replace with fresh oil... run for a few weeks... drop oil.... replace oil... spend the rest of the £900 you didnt give to the dealer on something you actually cant do yourself :)

See I prefer picture reference, any guidance on this would be great and I assume bringing the car to off road height would enable me to do this job?
