Been rather unproductive today.......

Managed to take off three of the four callipers and one of the bolts sheared, gonna have to weld a nut onto the stalk and try and get it out

However the new input gear and bearings have arrived :D and then the free shims from real steel turned up but they've sent the wrong damn ones  got a few other little bits too but need to get a major shift on! Hopefully picking up some tubular headers tomorrow so they fit inside my chassis rails, water pipe should arrive too and I'm off to collect some callipers off Mr Noisy :D

Just bought some tubular headers for £50 so thats my exhaust sorted, they're the block hugger type that come down the side and round into a flat along the chassis rails :)

Dropping off the input gear to Meldon Gears tomorrow so they can finish making up the adaptor gear and plate for me and I'll attempt to get a few other bits done too when I get home.

If I get a chance I'll probably put on the front callipers and do some minor bits like riveting in the relay panel to the back of the bulkhead

Keep going chap.

Gonna have to make up for the lost time over the next week tbh, got a lot of parts in the mail and as soon as the rain lets off the welder will be out to finish off the last two welding jobs!

Tub mounts and that calliper to be exact, final push is in progress as I'd like to get it in for an MOT soon ish given it needs to be on the road for the 28th!

One performance cam :D

Scale

As a reference that pic of it on a seat is the passenger seat in my golf! It took most of it up :D

The guys in the workshop next to where I picked it up from (Sowerby Bridge)

Had a Jeep Wagoneer running a 454 engine, Dana 44 axles etc :D lightweight with a 402SBC, Jeep CJ with some massive lump in it, a classic RR with some giant engine in it too and a few other projects on the go! They build monsters ;)

Also an original 6x6 127 chassis, few series and fenders and a large american pick up :D

haha you'll just get a whole load of notifications for random banter comments :p

I'll hopefully have the headers on next monday anyway so I can give it a little run ;) same with the rad system now I've got all my pipework :D

Now I does has a confession to make  partly because it also proves the point that Thor knows nothing about everything engine related he says he does,

So the Caddy 429 was the original engine that I was going to drop in here and although its a very similar size to the one that is in there it isn't the 429......upon some research I found the 429 was a little finicky to machine i.e. it has a hollow cast crank to keep weight down meaning its a bit of an arse to machine.
This means it is staying put for now and being mated up to an auto box to go into a 109 at a later date along with another spare 429 that may go into something ridiculous, both of these are now rebuilt and ready to go and my mate is thinking about taking one of them back

However for the observant reader they would have noticed this!

Lets begin;

The engine is now black for a start, the engine mounts in the pics have moved from front to central, the oil filter is now at the rear instead of the front passenger side by the timing cover, the water pump is now a different shape as well as a serpentine set up, the flywheel only has one set of bolts going through it, the crank has a protruding lip for the spigot bush, the heads are now central bolt rockers instead of perimeter and probably most importantly the Cadillac writing has mysteriously vanished!

The dizzy has somehow moved from the front of the timing cover to the rear of the block by the bulkhead :)

Oh and lets not forget the fact that the engine when I showed the rear of it had gone from having a flat top to a Chevy point along with the SM420 not having a spacer plate between it to adapt it to the block.

Now there is a reason for this even with the now complete and rebuilt 429 engines the drilling of the crank creates a major weak spot and out of a blown 383 I get more torque than the 429, more BHP and everything is a lot cheaper parts wise now!

Had Thor known about the engines he was proclaiming to know about then he would have spotted these less than subtle features!

Now Thor, if you want to play nice for real I'll respond in a civil manner from now on and answer properly
