Saw a new "defender" today passing on opposite carriageway, didn't realise until I was passed it, just looks like another generic landrover offering now in my opinion

lt's also a barely believable £200,000 which is out of reach for 99.9% of people who would want to buy something like that.

What on earth are they thinking at £200,000? Who will buy one?

Neither of the alternative Land Rovers (lneos, Santana) look quite as good as the original in my opinion
Although the lneos is a good effort.

The trouble is, it's difficult to improve on perfection.

There wasn't anything on the old Defender that wasn't there for a functional reason (apart from the seals), which makes the design iconic.
The Ineos has fake alpine windows and unnecessarily twee rear lights so points deducted for that
And as for the new Defender, all botox and bling.

The handbook for our Defender 300tdi described the box behind the bulkhead and associated controls as a "heater"
It was one of the few un necessary features on the vehicle, as it appeared to serve no useful purpose other than transmitting engine noise into the cab.

yeah, how's that work?

isn't the defender a labor-intensive production line and apart from emissions, the safety features aren't good enough for other world markets.
how could there have been a problem with the emissions they were running the same engine as the Transit Van and they're still being produced it was all do to cost of building them.
