I need to replace the engine in my P38 Range Rover. Can anybody advise a good source for remanufactured engines. The existing engine has a cracked head. This is the second head to go and I'm not sure about the block, so believe that a replacement engine is best option.

With respect to the FIP you will not be able to fit your Range Rover pump as it is a different size (Model number is different 994 or 995) What you will have to do is fit the EDC from the top of your pump to the to of the pump that comes with the Engine.
How do I know this:
I fitted an Engine from a '95 525 TDS to a 2001 DHSE last Christmas. It works and has done approx 10,000 miles
Any queries pm me.
Just reading the comments above:
If your engine has a plastic manifold you can fit an engine with an Alloy manifold but you not be able to fit your plastic manifold to it you will have to leave the Alloy one on. (Studs are in a different place)

Hi!
My engine got damaged due to a timing chain failure was thinking of replaceing it with a used one. As I assume all the componets to engine is working I'm only thinking of buying the block. Is there anything I should think of?
Mine has an alloy manifold, so was thinking of buying just a block with an alloy manifold.
Regards
Valves, maybe lifters etc. Look for a replacement head, they appear on Ebay from time to time. Will maybe try to restore it, what could have taken damage? pistons, cylinder head and ofcourse the chain

We have had this out before , its probably had a head change at some time as mine was of a pre 1999 head and the studs for the plastic manifold had to be drilled so they do not come as standerd as somebody has already mentionedThe head on my 96 and 00 P38's have the holes drilled and threaded for both manifold types as standard.
