My Freelander has begun to make a rattling sound when turning through intersections at moderate speeds. The sharper and faster the turn, the more intense the rattle. If sounds like something running the length of the vehicle - maybe even like it's the differential knocking about. It sounds like something is going to fall off the car. Any suggestions welcome.

I swear, I go between loving and hating this car. Other problems this week are a blown stereo speaker (despite the fact that it's never even that loud, a rear window that's stuck in the down position, the engine is starting to miss some and my third set of brakes in 27,000 miles is starting to squeak. I can't wait to see what happens at 50,000 miles. Luckily the guys at the local dealership are fun to hang out with. ;)

Hi best to get your propshaft and bearings checked out,if its sort of under seat area could be front anti roll bar links best to get it checked out though

I have a rattle as well it sounds like it's coming from the offside front wheel area, just as I turn left also there is a short squeal now and again from the same manouver. Also, should the engine be as hot as it is. Ie: when I open the bonnet i am hit with a wall of air so hot, it feels like a hair dryer on full setting right in the face. Is this normal?

I took mine in for service and will get it back in the morning. I'll know then what the diagnosis was. I can't complain too much, I had a new LR3 loaner for about a week. We had a previously planned holiday and took the loaner. It was an absolute pleasure to drive on the highway and in city. We had it in varied road and weather conditions and it was great. The coolest thing is the automatic windshied wipers!

And the verdict is...

The exhaust heat shield got jarred loose and was binding with the drive shaft. It was a warranty fix and all seems well.

:)
