My rear 24 spline half shafts and other stuff I ordered the other day have more or less all arrived now so I will have them fitted at the weekend all being well

Looking good mate, reminds me that my Dad needs to order his new chassis as well. Keep up the good work!

Spent the day faffing about fitting the new rear half shafts which are now on but think I have the wrong ones as the new ones ( 24 ) spline at both ends with matching flanges use a circling to hold the half shaft to the flange but doesn't us a felt washer as they look like they are for axles that us seals in the stub axle so I need half shaft that are 24 spline at one end and 10 spline at the other end

if its a series axle you can only use series shafts both types are 10 spline diff

So really I need a 10 spline Disco / Def diff.

I'm sure in the past when peeps fitted RR diffs which are both 10 and 24 spline they used shafts accordingly and presumed using a Disco diff wouldn't have been a problem but hay ho

they used rrc 10 spline diffs the reason for rrc is early rrc had a filler plug in the diff housing as only later series had a filler in the rear case the only 24 spline diff shafts used on a series are salisbury axle shafts

Are right ok so back to searching for another diff, dam
You could get 24 spline series shafts from Ashcroft or Kam they do ones which are specificly made for series rear axels which have 24 splines at both ends, though you do have to get 24 spline drive flanges as well.

Thanks for that but think I will look out for a good 10 spline Disco diff, it's a shame as the one I have fitted is very good with no back lash at all, just hope I can get a 10 spline one just as good

Removed the 24 spline diff and halfshafts on Saturday ready for fitting the 10 spline diff and original halfshafts this Saturday which will be the last spend and stuff to fit on the 2a till after Christmas then it all starts again in January and slog it out to get it finished, can't wait :D

Damn, my diff should have arrived by now and hasn't so I can't fit it yet, have messaged the seller and just waiting for a reply :(

Got it now and it seems a good one just needs cleaning as the outer looks like its been in mud at some point which I will do on Saturday then I will paint it and let it dry then I will fit it on Monday :D

Didn't get anything done last weekend as son needed a lift cleaning a couple of flats ( his cleaning business ) so I will fit the diff this weekend now :)

Sorry its a bit late but I got everything done over the weekend just gone and gave the axle another lick of paint aswell :)

This will be it for the next couple of months till Christmas is out of the way then it will all start again, my monthly budget should be better then aswell so even more money to throw at the 2a and get it a lot closer to being finished, so roll on new year :D

All the best everyone hope you all have a great Christmas and a happy new year see you soon :)

I've decided on kicking off the new year by buying a Steve Parker 300tdi-series exhaust system as I am using a 300tdi exhaust manifold to give me more room for fitting the intercooler pipes, can't wait for next pay day now in January :D

Exhaust should be here tomorrow and an exhaust manifold should be here by mid week and I've got 3 days off next weekend aswell so should get a fair bit done :)
