I wanna live in the middle of feckin nowhere with no one anywhere near me so I can build a shed and play welders to my hearts content and when I've had enough, close the door and sit on the nice swanky patio with a white wine spritzer and a smoked salmon bagel to enjoy some down time.

I did my 400+ mile round trip to go fetch the Mrs an the kids, the furry feckers were happier to see me than the sprogladite :oops: WTF :rolleyes:

On my merry travels I looked up Machine Mart and there was one just 5 minutes off the motorway, quick detour and I got two more liners which means I am bound to find the spare liner and the welding rods in the next few days lol :oops:

Should be back on it at least one night this week and get a bit more done, really need to get a whole weekend on it and make it ready to roll for the bank holiday weekend but wee shall see, if I hit a full 12 months on this then I'm going to be pizzed.

I'll leave you to invest in that, but while you're doing so... I've been trying to remove the fuel tank. This process has trashed a rather smug feeling I've been having. When removing the floor at the back, I'd put a sheet of steel below it so that my drill didn't pierce the fuel tank... and I've happily believed that I'd avoided any damage to it until now. I've just found half a drill bit which broke off and disappeared. It's sticking out of the top of the fuel tank. What is the recommended way to fix a new 4mm breather hole in the top of a fuel tank?

Plastic tank so nice easy repair with some epoxy putty, something like JB weld will do the trick.

Nothing fancy then. I was concerned that constant exposure to fuel vapour might require something more exotic. It's a diesel I've got, so it's not explosive vapour, but I didn't want whatever I used to crumble like cheese after a few months. I take it chewing gum isn't recommended. Thank you.

With it being diesel and all you could be cheap and just put an 6mmX20mm self tapping coach bolt in it.
 
That's even better. I won't actually need a coach bolt, there's a piece of metal with a helical groove in it wedged tightly in the hole. It's been there ever since my drill bit broke.

I got out and did some work on my Rusty :cool:

Another quick patch in the footwell

Loads of primer slapped on it and a load of seam sealer slapped around the edges too, even got the floor to sill support bracket fully welded on and I got that primed and seam sealed too.

It will all get blacked one night in the week with the black Hammerite and then I might get that brake pipe made up as it's a nice quiet job that just needs the front wheel whipped off and a bit of time fettling a new pipe for it.

But my happy moment was getting the tacks on the boot floor side panel and tacking on the wheel tub to C post and a few around the quarter panel, feels really good to have gotten that on at last and it actually feels like progress has resumed, for now......

So far the plan runs as far as getting the wheel tub fully welded in and the rear door pillar welded up and that outer rear quarter panel put back on and then I will be happy and can fix that bit of chassis rail and then get the boot floor and supports welded in, I was planning on getting all technical and making the boot floor removable, seemed like a nice idea and then I sat and thought realistically about it and after this weld-a-thon that's it for me, nothing more at the back end but it shouldn't need anything more as it will be getting regular waxoyling and dinitrol dousings all over the underside from here on out.

Need some more Hammerite black so guess I'll have a quick goggle search and see where the best price can be found.

Mate it was touch and go honestly, got up at 7 and it was dry and bright, by 8 it had come over grey and started spitting rain, half 8 and was lashing it down, had breakfast and played with the little one for a bit and it brightened right up and stopped raining, gave it a little time to dry under foot and out to play half eleven.

So by a day off you mean you went to the pub?

Not to the pub we went & done a bit of shopping then (well the misses went) & I went down the river leven looking
for a salmon fishing spot then went down the loch with the dog walked for a while fed the swans & ducks just a wee
chill out day doing nothing (I fkn knackered) lol

If yu got time ( and the inclination) weld a couple of tubes thru the box section sills to allow a high lift jack to be used on it.

I had thought about it when the box section was laid on the ground but I am doing some tree bar sliders at a later stage that are going direct to the chassis rails and will be incorporating them into that build :)

But I already have the tree sliders made. Just need to attach them.

Had a drawing and once I get the Lenovo on point with the AutoCAD then I will get it drawn up properly and I can then send drawings to laser cutter and then just got to weld it all up.

Will post up when I get it done.

Found d some small holes in the windscreen pillar that need a fettle too.

Gone too far now as the boot floor rebuild says crack on regardless at this point.

I think mine bolt to sills and outriggers. It’s been a long time since they were fitted :eek:.
