And for around £20 you will have a 3mtr earth lead to go with your swanky new clamp ;) completely removable from the machine making it very easy to store and transport.
 
Think the solenoid for the gas was my primary motivation for considering upgrade, could still go simple and cheap an just fit a solenoid for now and then fir a eurotorch at a later date.

Might have to put my vehicle tinkering on hold for a few weeks now :rolleyes:

Not expecting you for a while.

Solenoid to control gas from the safety of the welder as I think the leakage has cone from the brass valve block in the torch itself with all that twisting and movement there it's taken its toll on the push fit unions and I like the idea of remote electric control over manual valve inside the torch itself, might be able to lighten the torch too but going euro won't matter either way. My rationale being that by creating the most leak proof system with screw sealed connections and a solenoid valve in control of supply means there is no wastage just consumption on demand :)
 
Mr. Dieseldog, Sir, when you come to replace the back box crossmember on your vehicle, would you be so good as to provide us with step by step instructions on how to do it?... because mine is bbb (buggered beyond belief) and I wanna learn how to replace it before I make my attempt and mess up good and proper.

In the meantime, as a matter of interest... but nothing more, I found this interesting. Not particularly useful at present, but interesting.

I saw the laser rust thing a few months ago, they are advertised but its an online scam, that product would be multiple thousands of pounds not the couple of hundred as advertised!

I decided to do a removal and repair thread as its such a common problem spot for the rust and often they're rotten beyond repair but I think that the average DIY guy at home should be able to use theirs and fabricobble something better up at home, sheet steel is cheaper than the new cross member and if you have the gear to remove and fit the new one then all it takes is time and effort to repair and improve the original ;)

At the end of the video it says that it costs £80,000 for a 20W one, the one shown in the film retails for a cool half million. Probably, until the patents expire, the only users will be heavy industry. As I wrote, "not particularly useful at present".
 
I went outside to play today for a couple of hours, spent much of it chatting to my neighbours as I hadn't really seen them at all for a few weeks now but I did venture into the gloom and was disappointed to find a puddle in the drivers footwell again :( I found a puddle months ago and sort of figured it was from the door seal not being fitted and the water running off the gutter and dripping in off the windscreen post but it seems I have other problems as I fitted the door seal thinking it would stop the water and today I found that it hadn't :mad:

Didn't do much but I did slap some more paint on the side panels and wheel tubs that I have pre-built and took some measurements for the rear door post braces that I'll need to make up for when I cut out the rear body cross member for repair. I did fancy getting the grinder out but opted to have a bit of sort out and a splash around with the paint :)

Any progress, no matter how small at this point is good progress :)

Sadly the weather threatens to be good again tomorrow and I'm on a bluddy road trip :mad:

Oh well, more to come over the next few weeks.

Give thefloor a dusting of talc powder and see where the water is coming from
