That's strange, even did it as a test on mine once, worked fine
Depends on the age of the car and the firmware version of the BECM, EKA cannot be entered with Nanocom on all versions. Also, EKA cannot be turned off if the BECM is asking for the code to be entered.

What firmware version is your BECM ?

mine is a late ‘97 car with v39 firmware and it allowed entry of the EKA as described above -I did have to check with JLR as the wrong EKA was written in the handbook

Marty and I went through about 20 BECMs of different ages one afternoon and came to the conclusion it must only be early 1994 cars that it doesn't work on.

where is that located please
Hi Guys posting for help on this thread I’m Warwickshire based does anyone know anyone who can reset my ECU to BECM I have the code I have a p38 2.5 diesal 2000/1 year it’s none starter at Ettington in Warwickshire I’m happy to pay for the reset and travel . Engine immobilised won’t start . Ettington 4x4 says needs to get ecu to recognise the code ?

Posting the same problem twice will not win you any friends nor will it get a faster response. I have answered on your other post.

Engine Management security code? Need proper diag like Nanocom to do that. That won't have a message on the dash though. EKA might. Open the door every 2 attempts to stop it timing out. EKA needs all microswitches in the door working.

Engine management security code on the diesel is fixed and if sync with the BECM is lost you may get "Engine disabled" on the dash, on the other hand, it may just not start.

No message on mine. Cranked but no start.

Lots of different firmware levels so I'm not entirely sure, but the project car used to come up "Engine disabled" and it needed diagnostics to rewrite the EDC code to the BECM. As you say, crank but no start.
