HI
thank you all for your help yet again, but i appear to have the manuals you have but just go around in circles, I need a wiring diagram for the ABS system, ive had one just showed me a picture of where stuff is located but no Diagram, i need it from the pump through the master cylinder through the clocks and to the abs/ traction module ecu, at this rate i'll go buy a Haynes at least they give you a clue. Maybe im used to quality motorcycle workshop manuals that give you all model and year info in the back that even a beginner like me can follow. Ive now found a dodgy brake light switch which is being sorted on the 3rd, could this be confusing the system? and yet to be fully investigated do to bad weather, there are two wires going from the battery terminals all the way to the back of the car and vanish somewhere above the exhaust but do look like they are heading to rear end lighting. the N/S/R tail light does sometimes flash up on the display but bulb not blown and connection seems okay, then it works again!! suspect these extra wires are to do with this.
Another good one is that every now and then it flashes up on display GEARBOX but its that quick you cant read what comes after that, drives fine, I changed the gearbox oil and filter when I got it, it just flashes up when ever it pleases, not very often but there annoyingly. I pressume nobody has ever developed a stable electronic system for these, as it seems a very over complicated system and they aint getting any younger like me!! soon there wont be any left on the road because the electrical gremlins wont let them work
Cheers

The wiring diagrams are in a separate section of RAVE, down near the bottom of the selection list on the left. There are different manuals for each year. A Haynes manual would have less, not more information. In that same section it also has pictures of what each connector looks like and its location in the car. There is no more complete reference guide, that's what everyone is trying to tell you. You can supplement it with YouTube videos and what people know on here but RAVE is your first port of call. It can be tricky on new Windows machines and Macs but most people have got it running on most machines by now (not sure about Linux or Unix machines).

Yes I use it on Mac & Windows regularly. It can work on Ubuntu Linux, but it's a real faff to do & would not recommend unless you're used to Linux.

The RAVE circuit diagrams are large and clear, just spread over many pages, as good as any I have seen.
Dodgy brake light switch can certainly cause problems, when the new one is fitted it has to be set correctly by the pedal.
The flashing up of the gearbox message is often an indication of low battery volts or a bad engine to chassis earth.

You've just said Windows 11, which might be part of the problem. It needs an old version of Adobe (4?) and may need to run in compatibility mode for Windows 98 or maybe XP. May also need to run as Administrator when you run from the RAVE icon. Others who have done it will know more.

RAVE runs fine on Win 10 in Win 98 compatibility mode even on my touch screen tablet.

When you start RAVE, you should get a frame with the models covered, click on the model you require which will give you the first of the menu's I posted earlier. From there you an select from the menu what you require.
You may get 1 or more error messages when starting RAVE, just click through them.

I still cannot get Rave to run on Win 11 and I have tried all the usual "compatibility mode" wheezes. :(

hi
trying to print off the PDF files that PWOOD999 kindly sent but guess what, computer just wont let me print them!! no matter how i open them it just wont have it, ive a brand new printer so that should be okay, ive tried copying them to a memory stick which its done but then still cant print them from that, think im gonna go back to an old vauxhall viva you could work on those really easy
cheers

I might depend how you are opening them. Even in Windows 11, they should open with either Adobe Reader or MS Edge. Both should be able to print assuming your printer is setup & selected.

Have you tried printing anything else to prove the printer set up is OK? You could use Windows SNIP to copy the pages you want into a text document and then print that.

many thanks
technology updates eh!! half of the stuff in my house dont work anymore due to upgrades, i'll keep trying
thanks

One reason I refuse to upgrade and am hanging on for dear life to Windows 10. Micro$hite bricked 3 laptop drives with updates and I do not believe it was accidental.

To print try CTRL+P

My old windows tablet and laptop for running eas software are disconnected from internet so as not to update after wifes laptop got ruined by updating

I stayed with XP for years, I missed out on Vista and 7 but eventually had to move to 10 because my bank denied access on XP due to so called "security issues"
