See what happens and yes

its okay if i dont get a new from brookwell ill just buy a new one tbh, everything is better and cheaper than putting it into a dealer anyhow :p:D
So if anyone else wants that pump and lives in england i’d give it to them instead :)

My goal with the rangie is to have it away from dealers claws. Hopefully my bank appriciates that.

but i appriciate your help @Rubberknees thats awesome

People have helped me in the past, now its my turn to repay them. You'll be doing it one day and it gives you that nice feeling:):)

Car community/enthuiasts are indeed awesome.
I’ve gotten great help by people who has parts and experience in my nearabouts even tho there arent that many p38s here!

I did actually buy a wrong air filter to my car, gave it away the next day. (Way better than trashing it) I couldnt live with myself knowing i bought something that goes strait to the trash..

Fast forward a month, i need parts, woah its the same guy who got the filter for one of his buddies.

well damn, didnt i get 5 star service and really, really reasonable price on parts i needed

Its great this community, im digging it. :)

Planning to buy a tow strap towards the winter, so if any neighbours is struggling ill just summon the Beast whilst they watch it eat snow uphill.

and never the less, its fun to own such a beast of a car. And i only have the 2.5dse, i imagine the bigger petrol engines are really cool aswell

As we live on a very steep hill when it snows in winter is my best friend especially the pretend 4x4's that are round here Shouldn't be smug but can't help it sometimes:p:p Up or down its a joy to drive:D:D

I would also recommend changing the heater pipe o-ring
Just to be clear when you are at the front of the engine there is a rigid heater pipe that comes down by the exhaust manifold, it connects into the block just by the water pump and T'stat housing, retained with a bolt and sealed by a yellow o-ring. Your original T'stat will likelyy be original and good quality, leave be unless there is some reason to doubt it. it is just the o-ring that you need to replace because of its age. Just done the same on my engine.

yehaw, got the water pump tday. metal one. ofc got the gasket too so thats great.

I have the tool to undo the viscous fan, but i dont have a tool to hold the pulley, but is that rly needed? anyhow, to change the water pump, i guess i must?

Undo AC belt tensioner, undo AC belt.
Take off viscous fan
Undo pulley bolts so they wont be impossible to remove after belt is off.
Off with waterpump pulley, belt and out with waterpump.
Put in new pump, and attach pulley and then start to take both belts back on. (Does anyone have the torque in nm for the pump?)
I also plan to undo the thermostat and see if that works fine. Might just swap it with a new one tho. The thermostat i got does not have a breathing hole to ease airing the coolant. IS this rly needed? How large hole should i eventually drill?
Put in the viscous fan and im done.

Forgot to mention i put a bucket under the water pump and thermostat to drain the coolant, and fill up to proper level afterwards..

Do i need to take care when doing something? Appart from going mental with the viscous fan?

If you get a spanner on the fan and shock it with a hammer it may undo with no issues. Remember the diesel is reverse thread. Hole in thermostat not required but makes bleeding easier. Watch out how you release the tension on the tensioner when you take the serpentine belt off. That bracket is well known to crack and then it'll shred belts if you're lucky or snap and break all sorts if you are unlucky. Large screwdriver and slow steady pressure just enough to slip the belt off. No need to touch the Aircon one. Might want to check the new thermostat in a cup of hot water before fitting. Make sure coolant is the right sort.

ouchie.. I have usually just bought premixed coolant right? (yea im lazy) and i just did a flush for like a week ago, and even put loctite on the block drain plug... (for the coolant) and now i sit here with a car filled all the way up with Red premixed coolant.

I've got red concentrate... G12 longlife. Can i mix this with the premix? i need to dilute it 1:1 before i use it atleast....

I don't really want to re use the one i drain now again, as i am going to change waterpump and potentionally thermostat. (most likely). How many liters is expected to be drained by removing the waterpump and thermostat? In my head i believe 4-5 liters? Is this true?

And is it fine to use 1:1 diluted coolant with already premixed? Same brand, same specs... and it protect down to -36Celsius.

if its correct coolant for alloy head its fine. Be careful with the belt tensioner fulcrum arms - little bit of pressure and wait for it to retract, they snap easily if twisted and are £45 to replace.

After two hours of some sweat and almost, almost blood :D

I didn't get it :(
I've litterually tried to hold the pulley with every tool in my garage, everyone just slides off the bolts.. Like seriously everything. Im pretty sure i need new bolts. Ive probably eaten abit of the heads but i dont think its a huge worry tbh...

does anyone know the right tool for the job?

If all else fails a hammer and cold chisel on one of the flats but it will damage the flat
you were trying to undo it towards the air filter side i hope

you normally crack the pulley bolts off before you slacken the belt so its held tight by the tensioner, shouldnt be on stupid tight but perhaps yours are? once the pulley is off you put 2 bolts in the empty holes on the pump and tighten them to release the pump. if you are going to need new pulley bolts anyhow chop heads off or you could try getting the old pump out with it on then deal with it in a vice?
You got the viscous fan off so thats a win. put plenty of coppaslip on the viscous threads before you put it back on.

I didn't get the viscous fan off no, i maybe used some wrong words  So i need that thing which holds the pulley whilst knocking the viscous off. I've got the 32/36mm viscous wrench
