What sort of mileage do you get from your 2.5 DSE?
I am interested in:
Just trying to gauge how mine is doing
- Auto models only
- Later engine with EGR and MAF fitted
- Type of driving (short runs or motorway etc)
Per tank don't know never have enough cash to fill tank.
1999 DSE remapped chip.
As per trip computer.
Around town in moderate traffic 18 to 20 mpg.
Heavy traffic stop start 16 to 18 mpg.
Motorway steady 70 mph 28 to 30 mpg.
Contrary to popular government thinking my vehicle uses far more fuel at a steady 30 mph than is does at 50 to 70 mph.
Also contrary to popular belief because it is chipped and flies if booted, i can reduce the mileage to 13 to 15 mpg around town if the extra power available is used.
Hi, I went from NE Scotland to NW England to pick up a boat, just the RR down, boat & 4 wheel trailer back (approx 2.5 ton), drove her pretty hard there and back and averaged 22mpg. Get around 18-20 mpg around town but very light footed in built up area's.

Sounds like mines about right then....
ECU Chipped, doing roughly the same.
Only difference is motorway MPG, I struggle to get over 24mpg dirving carefully at around 60mph
Cruise control is the answer use it whenever possible even around town.

Mines a late 2000 DHSE with a PSI Power box, it's supposed to be putting out 160bhp, whatever it is it's adequate. This week it's been doing a 160 kilometre round trip twice a day on give & take roads in foul weather, I've just brimmed the tank and it works out at just under 28mpg.
The long term average on brim to brim figures is currently standing at 24mpg. Last year towing the caravan in the UK I seem to remember it worked out at just under 22mpg for the whole holiday. On a long motorway run I have seen 32mpg.
You have to take into account that I'm in France and there is little traffic.
I think it's brilliant for such a big vehicle
Thanks for that Wammers I thought mine may have needed an new fuel tank pump.
Mine is a 1999 with 28k on the clock
In town at a steady 30 mph getting 17 - 19 mpg
On a run on A roads with a bit on mixed town traffic 19 - 21 mpg
Motorway with cruise on 27 - 28 mpg without cruise 24 - 25 mpg (right foot made of lead).

98 DSE with analogue powerbox chip and 130,000 miles on clock.
I average around 450 miles per tank which equates to about 24mpg but have often seen over 500 miles on a tank on extended cruise controlled runs.
Did half a tank lately without the chip for comparison sake, the fuel economy fell to under 22mpg but I have a lot of hills and twists on my commute to work and the car needed significantly more revs to maintain speed. I won't be repeating the exercise
