keeping every thing crossed Paul
Cheers mate sat at the mot station now, next hour will be a nervous one.....
Looks to be a fail, silly things like not tightening the steering rod bolt tight enough, more welding to the rear x member and the exhaust which can't be emission tested as the exhaust isn't accesible when the vehicle is on the floor,
It can all be fixed though, a few more late nights it seems
Reason(s) for refusal to issue Certificate
Steering system has excessive free play detected at the steering wheel (steering box fitted) (2.2.A.1a) Now i'm not sure about this as tbh there is no difference in the play at the steering wheel since i've had it, but i'll look into none the less
Offside Track rod end loose (2.2.B.1d) **DANGEROUS** I didn't tighten up the bolt on the track end, my fault, easily rectified
Windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid (8.2.3)New pump as i covered the old one in windscreen washer fluid when filling it up
Windscreen has a sticker or other obstruction encroaching into the swept area by more than 40mm outside zone 'A' (8.3.1e)That'll be the mobile phone holder suction...it'll move
Front Registration plate missing (6.3.1a) No its inside the the vehicle on the dash, always has been, but i'll mount it on the outside flap
Parking brake lever has no reserve travel (3.1.6b)Needs adjusting
Offside Rear Braking system leaking (3.6.A.1) **DANGEROUS**It would be good if the MOT tester could tell the difference between a leaking hub seal and the brakes.....
Offside Rear Body has a sharp edge caused by damage (6.1.4)Nowt that a hammer wont sort
Rear cross member Body or chassis has excessive corrosion, seriously affecting its strength within 30cm of the body mountings (6.1.3)My welding was good i was told, a few areas still need attention and the guy who runs the garage gave my tips to sort it for the re test so i'll get onto that
Offside Rear position lamp(s) insecure (1.1.A.2a)See above...hit it with hammer and it'll be back to normal with a new screw in the cover
Rear Exhaust has a part missing (7.1.1a)Either weld a pipe on or buy a new backbox section, i'll go for the later as they're cheap enough
Offside Front Stub axle has excessive vertical movement between stub axle and axle beam (2.5.A.1a)This i'm not sure of, will check as it possibly to do with track rod end and the shocks
Offside Front Lower Shock absorber insecure (2.7.2b)apparently they're not tight enough but replacements are being picked up tomorrow/thursday
Nearside Front Lower Shock absorber insecure (2.7.2b)see above
Exhaust missing Emissions not tested (7.0)couldn't test it as there was no visible exhaust when vehicle on the ground, possibly as it's chopped off at the middle box, new back box will rectify
Steering Brake performance not tested (3.7) didn't road test
Service brake efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.1a)didn't road test
Parking brake efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.1b) didn't road test
Advisory Notice issued
Exhaust has part of the system slightly deteriorated (7.1.1a)
Nearside Front Brake hose slightly deteriorated (3.6.B.4d)
Offside Front Brake hose slightly deteriorated (3.6.B.4d)
Rear Brake hose slightly deteriorated (3.6.B.4d)
Nearside Seat belt damaged but webbing not significantly weakened (5.2.2b)
Oil leak
No bonnet stay
Front discs worn
Nearside rear tyre cut
You should ask the tester about the free play. it might just be down to the track rod end?
I was thinking that, will give it a wiggle when i replace the shocks
NTC1802 for the back box anorl, picking that up today
Offside rear leak isn't the brakes, drums were bone dry, the leak is oil on the inside of the rim where I didn't jet wash it off. I've had those wheels off a fair few times over the past week and not seen any oil around the drums or brake lines at all.
