Couple of bits done:

Not bad radiator, brass fittings including top filler cap but as with the standard version, the bloody return pipe doobry bit that sticks out at the top snapped off without me so much as looking at the fooker.

Had to drill a 11mm hole, tap it and fit a threaded sleeved pipe.


Also painted the whole thing in NAtO green, replaced the light lenses ( had some clear crap on there ) and job's done for now.

Nice job Paul. Looks like its dying for some bigger tyres without the wheel arch rubbers fitted. Take it you got the engine woes sorted then?


Cheers Shifty, i'd love some bigger tyres but i'm working through the finances with other stuff on the Landy, just bought new dampers and some 2nd hand hd springs to fit, rear cross member & polybush's all round so that's the price of a new set of rubbers already ;)

As for the injun, it's still running alright given it still desperately needs a rebore, smokes abit when cold but other than that she does what i want her to do. Picking up a disco xfer box at the weekend from Grubby so that'll give me some better returns on the mpg etc and i can check the front diff whilst i'm buggering about under there.

I did have a giggle last week as i was re checking my oil lines for a larger than normal leak, closed down for the night and got up early as i had to rush out forgetting i hadn't tightened the oil pipe from the turbo to sump....i can still see the huge slick coming from my garage now....:lol:

Also picked up a new alternator connector as i'm now down to 9V on the battery, bloke in the autoparts shop got it in one, top bloke ( landrover themselves want £90+ for the wiring harness including the connector, cheeky fookers )

Not really, it's a personal choice for the looks more than anything. Mine hasn't been lifted, i just removed the wheel arches. It is possible to gain an issue with the propshafts when doing a lift of 2", but all landy's are slightly different in that sense, some people have had issues with the props, some haven't ;)
 
Replaced the transfer box with a Disco 28D 1.222 version

Replaced the thermostat

Next up are shocks and springs, i may wait a few weeks and install a new set of springs rather than the 2nd hand pair from a military 90, measuring them up i'm 10 mm shorter than standard size ( 390/380 rather than 400/390 on the front ), must be due to the age/use of them.

Haven't checked rear heights yet, but they are level.
 
Got bored tonight so decided to finally make up the NS step for the Landy.

So first thing to do is remove the little skirts, they're about 2" tall and cover up the bottom of the bulkhead and i guess they are an aesthetic thing LR thought were a good idea....so we take em off :D

Grab your materials, these are as follows:

1 aircon bracket
1 length of thick walled steel tube
1 bull bar

Cut off the tab and box section of the aircon bracket ( found these at work )



Also cut the sides off the bull bars, these will serve as the returns.

I removed the nut holding on the bottom of the bulkhead ( the bolt stays in ) and attached the aircon bracket and did the bolt back up.





At this point i trimmed a little off the bottom of the bulkhead so the bracket sits square.




The piece of bullbar fitting into the rear chassis tube:



Cut apprx 1000mm of tube:



and slid it over the rear bull bar tube:



and rest the bar over the front aircon bracket:




From there i'll mark the tube and bracket for cutting and welding.

There are some pics on this fred of the finished article, but the last one i built ( for the OS ) was done in a dark garage so pics were abit crap ;)
