Did you need a puller at all? I had to fabricate a puller to get my tdi pulley off. I guess every engine is different - and it depends who was the last person to have their greasy mits on it!

Fortunately they all came off with some heat, a puller and a gentle persuasion
Now at the stage of the front pulley cover inner & outer are off, injection pump off and tonight/afternoon it's sump, pistons/conrods out and swapped.

Had a bash at changing me bumper, didn't really like the ol square thing and fancied a rounder jobby so popped over to work to borrow another tube of strengthed 55mm pipe.
Thinking simple, i lobbed the ends of the bumper off just past the chassis and folded a piece back, welded it to create a box and then drilled some holes for the tube to slide through, welded the pipe to the bumper at these points and voila:
Simple and to the point.
Anyhow i got thinking again today and was considering the middle bit and lobbing that off anorl, only thing is that it'll take some strength out of the bumper by removing the join between both chassis points, so i cut the middle bit out:
To compensate for the lack of strength i needed to cut another piece of spare bumper and weld it to the inner side of the box section left,
the first pic shows the one side without the piece and the second shows with:
Now before you say anything, i'm no welder, but i'll have a bash at anything and so after much welding and grinding i got down to a smooth surface at least with small areas which will require filling Unfortunately i cut the piece to go in here slightly smaller so had to bridge the gap between the 2 pieces with weld which took some time If you think it looks abit out of shape, that's due to the bumper having been bumped several times before and not over heating!
Finally i decided to use the ends of the original bumper to cover up my ugly looking welds and finish it off abit more:
Still got the other side to do, but i got a headache now ( alot of welding done ) and my little B&D drill just died on me

I'm on the look out for a larger diameter pipe to ' slot ' over the existing tbh, i went for what was at hand, but i understand what you mean

I have a piece of previous bullbar which i'm considering welding to the top as a shallow A frame, i may even turn the ends of the bumper upwards slightly anorl to give a more pronounced A.

Just make sure there is nothing that will catch a pedestrian and rip them apart if struck, (as if a Landy won't mess them up anyway:doh
but VOSA might be ****'s if you had a prang.

That's the one, although I remember it on an orange 90
(which was a better pic of the bumper) ... now that is an awesome looking bumper, and what I was on about Paul lol.

I did ask in the other thread regarding tubular bumpers and how the law relates to them, obviously no point being pulled for a bumper which is against the law, but common sense kinda tells me not to include the bull horns on it :lol: :lol:

I had a phone call today to shoot upto Birmingham to collect my son ( his mum was hospitalised ) so i was panicing abit as i hadn't sorted the oil leak or sorted the radiator issue.
Wasn't much i could do so off i went at a steady pace and kept my eye on the leaky bits and the rad. The temp gauge seemed to be telling porkies to me as it was registering just below the top of the white but both pipes and the rad were red hot, i kept pulling into the services to flush the system through and she kept on going.
The oil leak didn't get any worse and pressure dropped to just below 2bar as i got home from just above so no real loss of oil overall.
One thing i did notice was my speedo is out by apprx 10mph! doing 70 on the motorway was registering 60mph on the GPS, so summat is amiss there.
Although overall the engine has more torque, top speed was abismal in all honesty, maxing out at 65-70 at a screaming push but i wasn't tempted to hammer it given it's a new build and with the temp issue and oil leak.
I could do with replacing the air filter and may actually re route the whole thing, intercooler is doing it's job but i was at times lacking in boost power, nothing continuous but it was evident at times.
So radiator, oil leak and top end are the 3 main issues to continue with, no doubt you'll see me online sorting these out in the near future
