If they are not, why not? there has to be a reason even if it is poor.

Get the business in the first place, obvs, then act as intermediary between you and the insurance company?
If so fair enough, but at the end of the day, your contract is with the insurer not the monkey or the tin cup.
I think they are often used as a shield/barrier.

My dealing with Axa, indirectly via Lancaster, were not great, not Lancaster's fault. I was insured with Axa and the tw@t who ran into me was also insured with Axa. They used some anomaly in his insurance to delay things until I threatened court action, then they started to play ball. It was totally the third party's fault, but that cut no ice!
