Long day and the recovery truck just got the RR to it's new home. The RAC somehow knew the RR had no MOT on it and made me pay £341.00 to get her home  but on the plus side the car has 2 key fobs @Datatek :) the car is mint inside and out too which i am delighted about. Just got to sort the main issues, The RAC guy done a sniff test and confirmed exhaust gas in coolant so deffo a HG job and maybe more

No no no no its not defo a HG job the one I'm driving now was meant to be defo head gasket RAC man said so, guys spanner monkey said so cos he did a snif test iv got the bill from it.
They got a false reading from the sniff test due to having the wrong coolant in the engine in the first place turned out to be air locked......I won't go into it do a compression test check what colour coolant it has in it. Should be pink

Thank you for that knowledge I can confirm the coolant is not pink

The M62 is a pretty strong unit i wouldn't think it's HG as said above the wrong coolant can/will mess the readings up..

Failing that rebuilding them isn't too hard ;)

The RAC and AA check that via DVLA as a matter of course as I asked them about transporting an immobilised vehicle to the main dealer that had run out of MOT and they said it wasn’t covered by any policy. The break down cover is just that or they would have people shipping restoration cars all over the country for free.

The M62 coolant shouldn’t be pink as that’s OAT, although probably wouldn’t matter, should be blue or green, mine is inugel expert. I did a load of research into it but can’t remember why the OAT isn’t recommended but I think the main thing was to not mix the two. That might be old technology though
