What i mean is after manually turning the engine to retrieve a tip how does the engine know the position of the pistons im relation to the injectors timing if i have manually turned the engine and have left the pistons in a different position?

The ECU knows where the engine is in its cycle and will trigger the injectors at the correct time. However it does need to get the timing signal from the cam sensor to initiate injection.

Thanks pal.
I think i am going to change the cam sensor as the fuel pumps were fine before and i uear them both humming away.
Its dojng my nut in that i had no warning lights and after a good clean up I seem to have buggered up something.
Can i clean the cam sensor with anything?
I just wiped it with blue roll.

Thanks

Thanks for the input guys i have got her going.
Stuck the vam sensor in tye freezer and hey presto away she goes.
Just did a test drive and alls good apart from it farts after blocking off the egr valve.
Quite like the noise really lol.
It doesnay soumd healthy farting away a bit like myself but i guess its nothing to be concerned about.
The joy i am rather chuffed now and cheers for the input

I may have been a little premature 8n saying its just a cam sensor as sitting here parked and idling the whole motor is shaking enough to make it difficult to type on my phone.
Still hard to start with frozen sensor so thinking maybe a dodgy injector.
Dunno how to check them and pointers guys?

Points to an injector or two not working correctly. Pull the plugs off in turn, until you find the one that doesn't make any difference. Then strip that injector again, to see what's up with it. ;)

Cheers guys.
New copper washers but original o rings.
I pulled the injectors and 1 3 & 4 made a lot of difference to the running. 2 made a little difference but not as much as the others.

Will try in a new cam sensor and injector to 2.
Does anyone know the size of the rubber o ring on the injectors as i may buy 4 from a local company who supply this sort of stuff.
I reckon the ones on fleabay are over priced.
20 odd quid for 4 rubber o rings and 4 copper washers seems a bit over the top to me.
Then again i am an Aberdonian lol.
Still kicking myself as it was runnimg great before is stupidly decided to decoke and fit new seals etc.
I would hardly start this morning even with the cam sensor in the freezer.
Feeling very out of my depth at this stuff.

You are not out of your depth. You have completed a major set of maintenance tasks that a lot of owners wouldn't touch. When you find the problem you will learn loads and it may even be a coincidental failure. What generally happens is that when you find the fault it will bo 'obvious' !!!! Good luck and don't give up. Share your findings for others to learn too.

Told you you'd find it !!! Never seen an injector clamp break before - very low torque on the nuts - was it twisted or not sitting flat - I have put them on upside down before- injector is quite loose and you can't easily see why ! Well done for staying with it.
