The manual does not say there is an IAT sensor in the MAF, it says that the temperature is derived from the MAF as I recall.
I'm not aware that BBS software is derived from Testbook, the Nanocom is basically the Faultmate software which is I believe unique to BBS, it does not run in the same hardware or software environment as Testbook.

Maybe you have a fault as well so the iat is part of the maf and by the -38 that tells me there is a fault I still say it should rise you can always do a live feed on fuell plugged in and unplugged should give you an indication that fuell is being upped with sensor plugged in and reduce with it out.
 
At last! Someone else with a -38 reading. But... is it normal for the egr (non-IAT) engine to give a reading of -38?? Anyone else with a Nanocom and EGR diesel care to test their Air Temperature?

Nick have you driven about with live data and checked the readings or just revved if go for a drive to at least you and data can compair :)

I think you may well find they are all the same. All those with EGR that is.

It runs less well with the MAF disconnected, I've tried it. There is no reason to calculate a temperature with a MAF.

Ok if that is the case then why is it even registering an output of - 38 as the non egr wireing was completely different to that of the maf becuase it should say invalid or too high too low ect or no signal can not remember actual wording ??

Because the software was written pre EGR and has never been changed as far as I know, it also assumes a degree of intelligence on the part of the user. Other sensors also do not show a text error message, there isn't room in the display box.

But that's what I'm doing if you read the instructions to the nano if a sensor has an invalid output the nano will pick it up or not same as a broken wire to the sensor in this case it isn't .

I don't have a Nanocom so I can't comment but I know that on at least 2 sensors Faultmate does not give any comment on a duff sensor, just a static meaningless reading and on one, the software could not cope with negative temperatures, I cleared that one with Colin at BBS.

Not if it's a preset programmed into the ECU for the EGR engines it won't.
 
Nick I did notice your engine temp is up but your fuel temp is minus !

But it also talks of the air temp in conjunction with map so there must also be an sensor connected with or on the turbo ?? Even tho it's an egr

I read that earlier too...I think it is in error as it is written like that for the 1997 Electrical circuit operation too, apart from the 1997 version mentions a default reading of 30degC if the IAT sensor is duff....
