Keep at it and it will be a good 'un. My mate has the UHPs on his XTrail and will be on over winter so I'll let you know how they do!

The UHP's don't have very many sipes compared to Continentals, so I doubt the will be as good in snow, plus the Continentals remain flexible under 7c, whereas I doubt the UHP's will.
 
I drive it down to Terrain Vehicles today and left it with them.....

It is now 40mm higher, doesn't have so much metal in the inner front wing and the fuel pipes have been moved.

Okay. An update.

The car is still with them. The 40mm lift kit is fitted and the wheel arches cut. The fuel lines have been moved. The track rod ends will still hit the chassis rail on full lock on full extension. We are not cutting the chassis rail.
The car is having all 4 wheels laser aligned at the moment.

The thermostat is being replaced with an original one.

The rear brakes will be serviced as well.

They can't find anything obviously wrong with the fuel system, with the lumpy start up and the smoking, as it disappears after about 10 seconds. I have been advised to live with it until it gets much worse. They could not say which injector is faulty, but that it probably is a failing injector, as they are all compensating for each other and they all seem okay.
I think I'll leave it on their advice, as at £200 each plus labour, that is a lot of ££££'s. and replacing all 4 just to stop the smoking for 10 seconds on first start up, just isn't worth it at the moment.
 
Lynx Diesels are in Woking (but so are the martians...) and will recon at £100 or less. Yo9u DO need all 4 doing at the same time as they have to be balanced. That's why people replace one and still have problems.. Anyway, not as much as you think and not that hard to replace if they have recently been removed and reseated properly. If I was closer I'd pop around and have a go for you...

I reckon it will get worse, and doing the job properly will also aid starting, running,. AND more importantly, economy... ;)

You need a wheel cover for that spare tyre though, it saves UV damage and is a good place to stick those dayglo chevrons :D

This is just a quick piccie I took at dusk after I drove it back home after the lift kit was fitted, along with a new thermostat and also had the rear brakes overhauled and the handbrake adjusted.

The brakes work so much better now and the handbrake works!
 
I've been experimenting with the Ronbox 2a settings.

I had had it set up on 10, with the 3 position dash switch on the middle setting, Eco 2. The other settings are Eco 1 for winter driving and high, which uses the mode set on the dial. I wasn't convinced by my setup, so had it turned off for a long time, with just the MAF compensation on.

When in that setting it would smoke lots when under load and I wasn't convinced by the performance & economy.

As I have a EGR bypass fitted I turned it down to 3 with low MAF compensation and torque on hi and power on medium. The car smoked badly.

So I changed to the medium MAF setting for the Pierberg, and to 8, medium torque and power. Much more noticeable difference and not noticed any smoke. Yet.

There is a noticeable increase in torque, which the gearbox will have to learn as it is a little jerky at the moment, but from experience over time this will get better. It is worse when cold.

As an aside, I have not had my rough idle and smoking for the last couple of days, even though the garage didn't alter anything.
