I've enjoyed doing or getting these jobs done, with exception of the designer and manufacturer of the roof console, where I will be tracking him and his family down.

Haven't achieved much today down the barn, decided I will put off swapping the front springs and the shocks to another day, same with the front hub, I have however drained the front diff and replaced the fluid and fitted the guard, after spraying it red of course.

Might do the rear diff now, or maybe just go home, not feeling that motivated today.

Looking really good now, good idea with making a video. Hadn't thought of HD drive flanges, where did you get them from?

I'm in the middle of fitting an immobilizer and alarm and making the stereo better.

Put the roof rack on a couple of days ago, but not the roof tent yet.

The drive flanges came from Mansfield 4x4 in Bury St Edmunds near to where I live, they are Terrafirma ones, you can get them from Paddocks etc, but order a couple of spare centre nuts with O rings as they get lost easily, or maybe they just wanted to sell me them I dunno? Your roof rack looks good (never thought I would ever find myself saying that) I am going up to Holmfirth to get my roof rack fitted on the 11th

Blimey my 110 is going to look scruffy in comparison - but then the odd dust or sand storm and we will all look alike.

I'm sure there is an irony in hitting a tree in a desert.

You would not believe how much skill it took. I beleieve that was also the area where I used proper foul language to discribe it 3 hours before the sand storm hit see below for the change in visibility.

What a day that was, and perversely enjoyable +- a bull bar or two.

Ferry to Morocco about £150 return and insurance for car about £60 unless your with NFU then get green card for Morocco at no cost. Fuel is really cheap in Morocco so should be about £400 plus a few pounds for tolls and bread for three weeks and the rest you can take with you.

Does this sound reasonable for the whole trip?

Fuel 5000 miles @ 30mpg(6.6mpl) & £1/l (average) = £757
Spending money £4-600
Chunnel £80
Ferry- Santander £300
Ferry- Morocco £150
Insurance- £60

That's for both of us

Yes it does.

Morn'in to all.

I've just glanced through the threads quickly as I'm heading out. I was in Maroc last October again..I head there on my moto each year for about 3 weeks where I would guide the odd moto group and usually scout new trails etc. I took a few different routes this year to avoid the main national routes which turned out be excellent and was glad that I did.

I usually ride about 1200kms on piste and throw in a few nights wild camping. I have also been 3 times with my own 300tdi. As an aside when I go in my 4x4 I take a spare fuel filter, wheel bearing and a normal tool box. Travel light and anything can be sourced once you're there. No real need to buy and stock up with spares IMO,therefore keeping costs down.

My ride reports are here if anyone is interested.

Anyhoooo..I can offer some recent advice if need be for those wishing to keep costs down,e.g.I use a clean and cheap hostel which has safe parking when I get half way down Spain( This is where I meet any other UK riders that have gotten off the Santander ferry who are riding with me) €18 per night with B&B.

I can give a rough idea of what you should be paying for hotels etc once in Maroc and any advice to get through customs at Tanger Med(if you're taking that route)

I can also offer GPS routes that I have uploaded to Wikiloc - GPS trails and waypoints of the World and which would be OK for a 4x4 to take on.

If you have any questions then please feel free to ask.

All the best for your trip.

:)

That finger injury you suffered whilst repairing that old chaps tyre was horrific, did you ever get the use of your finger back?

*Note to self, bring teddy bear plasters.

Good info on your Moroc thread Ohlins

Thanks for sharing your ride reports. I have only flicked through them at the moment but I am looking forward to reading through them later this evening.
