You want an honest opinion, and I'm not having a go in any way, this is just my feedback from folks I know.

Its perceived as something being organised in private, by a group of people who for the most part already know each other. Kind of a private party for the regulars in certain sections.

Don't know how you will change that, well I might do, but its nowt to do with me :D:D

I can't honestly think of anything LZ has done that is less of a private party.

The organising group has been quite small but is rapidly expanding and everyone has been invited to put forward ideas and offers of help. Everything has been discussed in the open except the boring details of who's phoned who and who has the most unreplied (is that even a word?) emails.

Whether people want to throw ideas around, offer to sort out the details or turn up on the day and party the important thing is to celebrate whatever LZ is to each of us :tea:

Right now you can go off to the Freelander section (which by the way is the busiest on here) and organise the Freelanderers to come. I expect a new thread on this subject in the next half an hour or your elite membership will be cancelled.

I dare you :p:p:p:p:p

So can I come in my Mondeo instead of the noisy, cold and slow Defender :eek::D:D:D And will you organise a laning trip suitable for cars. Equal opps and all that :p:D:D:D:D

It's the turning up bit that'll make the event. Better a Mondeo with you in than than a tratter without :p

I'm not organising laning, a more local bunch is doing that but I'll have a word if you like :D

:lvhug-035:

It would be interesting  but the Landy would never forgive me :D:D:D

LOL we could organise a LZ towing livestock clinic, a few of your cows and my horses, would be fun :D:D:D Next time perhaps

Probably have to be stuffed cows Im afraid, have you ever checked out the cattle movement regs?

:frusty::frusty::violent:

Bet you the site hasn't got a holding number, or is an approved cattle collection centre, not to mention the pre-movement tb testing :(:(

Will have to be just horses and my pig then :D:D

Sue I would honestly be interested in your thoughts on how to change that...if you'd rather do it by pm then I really would welcome your comments :)

As with anything some people will know each other, the whole point of asking people what they would like is to try and have an event that is suitable for all the various people on lz.

It doesn't matter if you turn up in a motor held together with spit and string (we have lzir) or a 100k customised creation. The idea is a celebration and common interest.

The hope to raise funds for charity and have a good time and meet some new faces.

We is coming in a mundano:eek: maybe they could set aside a corner for us weird types, already got the laning sorted in the laning thread, and a spare towing eye so we can have one fitted to each end:D:D

As above, not having a go, my observations ..

I dunno how it's perceived as a private party .. It seems to be open and 'normal' to me .. OK, maybe the same or similar people are actually doing the 'doing stuff to get it moving' bit, but that's _exactly_ the same for any club or organisation I know. For example, I've never met Roy or Accy .. but they _are_ Landyzone ... and they do a lot of stuff that by necessity can't be shared with everyone in running the forum. They get help from some people, but again, that's a necessity, doesn't mean it's a private club or party.

Seems to me to be a celebration of Landyzone and Landrovers that needs organisation well ahead of time purely 'cos of logistics .. a decade is surely something that can bring everyone together, not divide us?

For example, (Not blowing my own trumpet here) I wasn't forced, or even asked, to bring kids playstuff, it was an idea for something I can do to help that might make the weekend go better. I already know my mere presence will do that anyway ... ;)

Join in, get the others to at least look at it from the point of view that if no-one organised it, what would you do anyway? Do another weekends run around the Peaks or N Yorks, or Wales? They can be done next weekend, or the weekend after. This is a fairly rare chance to meet a lot of people with very similar, and also widely disparaging, viewpoints ... get drunk with, hopefully, a bit of debauchery later .. as well as see a Landy or two .. :) A bit like the Bakewell run but way bigger and better

All it needs to be a success is for people to turn up and enjoy themselves. If you don't you won't be villified, but your presence (EVERYONE'S PRESENCE) will just make the weekend so much better.

I was really surprised to read this. Anything less privately organised I can hardly imagine. It's true a small group of people have done all the hard graft so far, but I've never known any organisation where things worked differently.

To the best of my knowledge I've never knowingly met another member of LZ, and my main reason for going up is to put faces to the names I've gotten to know on here. Missing the Yorkshire crew would be sad - I get the impression that you're one of the more sociable groups on here, with the various trips and outings, the adventures of Sarah90's Dave, and the general attitude of the posts from there. I've never pictured Yorkies as shy, retiring types, unhappy to be exposed to new adventures and people.

I hate camping, and don't own a caravan, but we're going anyway. I would hope to meet some of you there - there will be cake from Mrs. flatlander, and that's something to look forward to:)

Which reminds me, as head of cake security all cake should be handed over to me at the gate for everyone's peace of mind:D:D

ya know, that was really nice to read.

people are met, jobs worked thru, and some of us document some of what we do, for no other reason than to help others.
never did it cross my mind that others read it as an adventure.
its only just occurred to me, just how many other people can read it.!

I'm warming to the idea again, after a bout of comments on another thread.

thank you flatlander.
:tea:

And thank you, kind sir. If you do come I'll replace the tea with beer, although I doubt they'll have Landlord:tea:

Well if the Disco's on strike, I'll be coming by bicycle

There are "lanes" out that way that I've done in a regular-ground-clearance car, without realising they weren't "roads" I'm sure Freelanders will have no problem. Not guaranteeing it for Mondeos though :D

I'm afraid there'll only be a choice of award winning real ales, a couple of lagers and spirits

We'll just have to make do :D
