hi all, I'm in the process of arranging a 3 day laning trip from Llangollen to snowden for myself and a buddy and wonder if some kind soul could point me in the direction of a good start point and wot map to use. I believe the wayfarer and corwen cr wash form part of the route and that os landranger no 126 is a must . any further info would be greatly appreciated

cheers

Might be worth giving Griffdowg a pm ... I think he knows the area ... ;)

Wayfarer is still closed at the moment. There's plenty of other green lanes in that area though. If my car wasn't in 1000000 bits at the moment, I'd have been interested too.

fooking loads of lanes and i mean loads to pick from just buy a map and start looking easy enough just around llangollen for 2-3 days laning

I've been many times, he's right, there's loads. Some of them are really interesting and some are a bit dull, though. Depends what kind of off roading you want to do, a non-intensive amble through the countryside or a little more of a challenge.

Do we know when it is due to reopen?

It was due to reopen ages ago, but the council have been too busy fixing the potholes in the other roads in their area to get up and fix the wayfarer. I've checked on the council website (Wrexham Borough) and there's no info.

Thank you. I am over that way at the weekend. Is it worth checking at the start of the lain for a notice or shall I just steer clear?

been out recently although wayfarers is hyperthetically shut ITS OPEN.Its no worse than it has been for the last year, however due to excessive tooling around by pretend off roader straying off track i guess a TRO was on the cards! get yourself a landranger map for bala/chirk area from millets and study it carefully youll be amazed at whats there but remember if it looks like you shouldnt be there then you probably shouldnt. i could give you a day out youd talk about for weeks but im hands on with the map so id have to physically show you. Was out with my crew last near bala it took us 5 hours to complete 1/2 mile we didnt see/annoy one person all day and thats the key to proper greenlaning. Dont be a sheep where you terrified of straying any further than eyesight of habitation. If you want a pointer on where to go contact me via this thread ill gladly meet you with my map of fun. However if you drive an advert for turtle wax it might not be for you, i spend my spare time with a panel hammer making good!:)

Hi wayfarers has a TRO however i have spoken to the natives who dont seem to have a problem with the sensibles amongst us.As for the corwen car wash its more like the corwen U turn. its not a through route unless you like confrontation by a gun wielding farmer! It also has an enviromental order on it due to salmon spawning (dont upset John West!) chirk area has superb greenlanes as has bala 3 days would cover a third of whats available.

many thanks to all those who replied, really appreciate it. andy I'm around chirk most weekends but not looked at the green lanes yet. is the os landranger 1:50 still the best map for the job. this is my fourth disco and admittadly my last td5 was too nice to play with which sort of defeated the object of getting one, hence my 200 purchase, bought soley for the purpose of bolting lots of offroad kit to it and getting it into trouble( and out again hopefully). were looking to go at the end of march so all are welcome, and if someone would like to go for a mooch round in the mean time to show me the area I'd be more than willing

Thanks chaps. We are responsable and thus unshaw of travaling the wayfarers when under a tro. Will look at other lains I have not driven in the arear insted. Hopfully the wayfarers will be reopened in the summer. Maby I will change my mind if ground looks dry but at this time of year I dawt it. Staying clear of the carwash. Petral and all that so no point getting waterloged for no reason.
