Did disconnecting the battery clear the keycode lockout?

No mate didnt clear it :-(

It might be worth taking another read what has been posted before... You aren't supposed to take the battery off to clear the lockout

KEY CODE LOCKOUT on the dash WILL NOT GO AWAY if the battery is disconnected. It is an electronic timer in the BECM - so if the BECM isn't powered, then every time you try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it, the message will show up again.

Reconnect the battery, and KEY CODE LOCKOUT will show up. Go back inside, make a nice brew and kill the other 25 minutes somehow, and then go back out to the vehicle. The message will have self-cleared after the 30 minutes.

Then try entering the EKA code as previously mentioned and you should then be able to resync the key to the vehicle and everything will be back to normal.

I was being a bit sarcastic when I asked if disconnecting the battery cleared the KCL, for the reason you and others quoted;) The op. stated that the message stayed on for hours and won't clear which is why I suggested contacting Mozz.:)
 
Yeah, I gathered you were :) though I think that may have been lost on the OP!

I read it as that he had left the battery disconnected for hours and it didn't make a difference.. But hey ho..

What year is your car?If you have now switched off alarm with EKA code, after 1997 just put key in ignition press lock turn on and key should sync. Or with drivers door unlocked press and hold lock and turn key to lock position and back to centre then press and hold unlock button and turn to unlock and back to centre. Put key in ignition car should start and fob should work.

How do you know the EKA code worked? - did all the doors unlock on the central locking when you did the final turn to unlock? The only reason I ask is because the EKA is the key code the dash is telling you to enter. The key won't resync if the vehicle is still wanting the EKA to be input (like the dash is asking you for)

The EKA instructions are in the owners handbook - or failing that get in touch with Mozz - (if you haven't already) to get his resync document, as that has all the information in it regarding entering EKA and resyncing your key.

If the vehicle won't accept the EKA code after following his instructions, then it could be that either one of the microswitches in the drivers door latch has gone faulty and preventing the EKA from being entered properly, or the BECM has had enough and gone into alarm lockout mode - where it will ignore all attempts to enter the EKA and has to be reset with specialist diagnostics (which myself and I'm sure a few others on this forum have!)

I wrote up a printable document to checking the door latch microswitches and it is posted up over on Rangerovers.net in the P38 forum there.

Get in touch with Mozz first though to make sure that the EKA code is being input properly and go from there. You need to be slow and patient entering the EKA - if you rush it then it can miss a number and it won't work.

I can open the drivers door on my 2001 manually with the key and not have the alarm go off if I've locked it with the remote, yet if I go to start it, then the dash comes up with the 'Engine Disabled Press Remote' message.

I know my alarm works, as it was broken into a few year ago in London and I came back to find the Alarm Triggered message, and which door had been opened.. Though that was pretty obvious from the smashed window anyway.

Maybe if you have not had a flat battery. If you lock with the fob and the battery then dies then you open with the key and charge the battery, when you connect battery the alarm will go off. Think this is the problem this guy has had. He really does need some diag on it to sort it out.

Good point, I hadn't had a flat battery at the time - it does sound like diagnostics are his only real way forward at this point as something isn't working properly.

I had the same kind of issue when I first bought mine with the RF keeping BECM awake and all that - However when I entered my EKA, all the locks popped up and it let me resync the key and start the vehicle. I wonder if his BECM as gone into lockout which is preventing him from getting it going...

I can't see his location on his profile anywhere, but if he's local to me I'm happy to go have a look with the Nanocom and/or BECM programming gear...
