Hi folks ,,if you've red my previous threads you would have seen ive been having issues with my friends p38 , Anyways she bought a second hand becm ecu key ignition barrel , door lock clocks , etc , anyways fitted them ,the weekend , went to start , but it would not fire , sooo okay its been standing since before Christmas , so could have air in the line , but its got the point where I turn the key and get nothing , had the statrter off and give it a clean , cleaned the earth points ,but bugger all , im not even getting any warning lights on the dash , just the SRS sits there ,btw the seats are out of the car , as replaceing the carpets , ,the fob doesn't seem to lock or unlock wich it did sunday :/ , I just don't wheater I got a earth shorting on the body , just haven't got a Scooby atm .

Are you saying you swapped the BECM?
 
yes , and after the swap it was turning over wich is more than its done for weeks , before the swap it was more dead than a dodo

Engine ECM security code needs reading and writing to BECM. Or it will turn over until Christmas but won't start. Do i take it this is a diesel? Do you have any messages on dash? You may like to contact a member on here called Rick-the-Pick and ask about changing a BECM and what you need to do. I am not entirely sure you can just swap them.

had engine disabled , press remote did then and it would want to turn over , just stuff like windows not set airbag fault , wich I had before it died , is there anybody on here3 htat has the softwere to do this ?

Yeah a few but whether they are near you i don't know. You need someone with a Nanocom that would do it, lots of other so called diag units won't. Look at map on here for people near you.

No if it's not synced it's just that the BECM has a different security code in it than the ECM. The one in the ECM cannot be changed so it has to be read then written to the BECM. When the car is switched on the BECM checks that the codes match if they do it switches on the ECM and allows the engine to run. The other things i have no idea about. I don't know what you have done. Engine won't turn over if it is disabled but you should have a message on dash if it is. Engine will turn over but not start if it is out of sync. Maybe the BECM has gone into lock down, i don't know, that is why i said talk to Rick. He is shit hot with BECM repairs.
 
not guilty you're honour, I haven't done anything , other than swap a battery over when it went flat from turning it over , Range rover aren't my field I more into mg's
 
If you swapped the battery without following the proper procedure you will need to reenter the EKA code to disarm the imobiliser. It won't make the car start in this case I dont think but it might let it turn over again.

You need to speak to Rick the Pick and get it looked at properly, your SRS problem may be because the seats are removed if its a 99+ vehicle with seat airbags.
 
I worked on it all day testing the earths and various parts of the loom . and haven't found anything wrong with them ..... still no dash lights and before you ask yes ive checked and changed the no1 fuse ...workshop is full of other cars to be fixed , I think it needs putting out to ro....... stud I mean stud

Have you looked at all the master fuses and relays 15 and 19. Fuses 26, 37, 42 and 44?

when I had a issue witht he door lock someone sent me a pdf of how to test it works does anyone have similar sort of thing for testing the becm , ie power going in / power going out ,
