Theres a ford york diesel down the road from me if you want that :p

if its complete with the fuel dist pump and starter its a bloody tempting offer as long as itll fit in a series

but first i wanna see if this mammoth escapade is gonna work coz the old fella across the road is convinced its the rings having seen the way the bores are at the moment :cool:

I had a diesel series lump sat outside mine till last saturday.... if you had said ;-)

jeez 6 months the council wont have that round here and to stop me gettin cars into me back yard to work on theyve put a brand new concrete fence up ( bastids ):mad:

ive now gotta wait till the potato waggon for the chippy round the back reverses into the fukker now theyve even bolted the fookin pannels in

think i might have a set of 40 thou over size pistons kicking about in the spares cupboard. (new uns, if there still there)
do you know what size yours are?

oh, and keep away from that york!
had one once an it were a right twot to start!

the over 40 would that mean whats stamped on top of the piston ( +040 )

and the york is known fer being a bugger te start thats why i had the idea of a cummins 4bt coz its been done with a 6 in a fender so why not 4 in a series :D:D

to be honest i got me eye on a truck breakers near ashton stockport hes gotta have summot in there but i need this on the road first to get some kinda cash flow going ;);)

sounds like yours has already been bored out to max if its stamped +40
might get away with new rings and honing, but depends on cylinder condition as someone said above.
your welcome to the pistons if i still have em' (aint looked yet) and they should go straight in. might be a bit of false economy but if get you running for a bit till summat else crops up!
never dealt with cummins in rovers, so wouldnt know what to suggest there. dont even know what the 4bt was fitted in.....

pistons are stamped + 40 but may be bigger or smaller by a few thou than those fitted
hope there bigger then!
dont think i'll ever use em, engine i got em for has long since gone but just couldnt throw new pistons out. if it helps johnny out then alls good, if not, bung em on fleabay as novelty pen holders an i'll take 50% of the sale :p

if yer still got them ill take them as ive got no choice these are bored +40 and the oil rings are absolutely fooked (nothing left of them at full stretch ) and the sides of me pistons are hammered to fook ill get some pics up when the camera has charged enough :(:(

them pistons dont look that bad, if you can get a set donated then grab them, give it a good hone and bobs youre uncle, if not get a set of rings.

Hi Johnny, shame you didn't find all that in the beginning , those rings I sent you are for a STD bore.............:(

the camera is a bit **** to be honest theyre peppered with fragments of metal like fragments of previous piston rings or something wich have scored the bores here and there

theyre gonna get a bloody good honing and the compression rings that are in at present look to be ok and well within the tolerances in the engineers specification book but the oil ring on the bottom is well over worn out and provides absolutely no pressure or seal against the side of the cylinder bore

it doesnt need checking if the oil ring will drop into the bore without needing to be compressed it just falls in so they will just let oil **** past them into the cylinder

and as the old mechanic engineer over the street pointed out i could get away with a hone and rings on them pistons if i was selling it on but im keeping her so i think its better to go well overboard while its stripped down like this and do it right once and for all :D:D:D:D

Never mind that, find somebody else who needs 'em, or stick 'em on bumbay or summat. The postage back would nearly cover a new set;).

And I might be wrong but didn't Toyota stick 4bt's in their stuff?? Nice engines them, but I think I'd have to kill mine stone dead before I went that route:D
