Some serious welding then for those front rails / hangers. Can't think of a better man for it though! Your going to have a nice landy there that should give many years service.

the triangular flagstone just happened to be there and the right size n shape when i needed another 2" height on that stand

the bits of bricks and smashed up flags are just what ive brought home from walking the dog ive managed so far to crazy pave half me back yard for under a tenner doing that and rescued a belfast sink last week from a skip :cool: thatll be getting screwed to the wash house wall pretty soon so im not getting bollocked for washing me oily hands in the kitchen sink

and ive got to get a serious shift on soon with this project as me doris is getting sick of it being in the back yard

and an update on the registration ive got written confirmation of all the landy being of the same vehicle ( not a bitsa) from the motor heritage museum in solihull in the post with a pre filled in v67 form for the dvla for an age related reg but it still dont tell me exactly when it was first registered only the dvla records have that info

but its come back as not stolen or scrapped last date of liability 1978 but all serial numbers given show between 1971 and 74 :confused::confused:

just need to get a £25 postal order for the dvla now for me log book :bounce::bounce:

so its anyones guess weather its tax exempt or not place your bets now please :rolleyes::rolleyes:

It makes no difference when it was registered, only when it was built!
If it was built before 01/01/1973 then it is historic tax, it could have been registered with the DVLA for the first time today and still be free tax!

What does the 'Age related plate' bit say for the year?

John.

John.

the plate bit says its built in solihull between 1971 and 1974 for the agricultural market in the uk the serial number on the chassis is of a wide variant period within those years and cannot be secluded to any particular year or exact date

they have advised me to send the form to the dvla to apply for the v5 document so if its on there records as haveing been registered itll be on their records with the reg number

i have contacted the dvla who stated a few things that make this all a little interesting to say the least

all i need is the chassis number and any other matching numbers such as axle engine and gearbox numbers

they have also stated i dont need the vin plate off the bulkhead as its within the years when it didnt matter such as it didnt need the plate before 1974 but does after

i have asked if its consideder fraudulant if i just get the chassis number and axle numbers and such stamped on a brass plate for the bulkhead and they replied with its not fraudulant or dodgy in any way as on any inspection the numbers will match any found on those parts and v5 document so its not a problem at all and could be beneficial to anyone such as traffic police and such showing the vehicle identity

they stated that modern vin plates do not have the makers name printed on them and so as long as my plate is honestly done theres no law says i cant stamp my own plate as long as i dont print the landrover logo on it due to copyright infringements on their trademark

and great news ive finished the chassis welding today so theres only the front grille pannel and a few odds n ends left as far as welding is concerned :5bparty::5bparty:

me next trick is to get the front axle sorted and back on and it looks like its gonna be a nice day tomorrow :D:D:D
