You used to be able to pick them up cheap as chips ont Bay and even new they ain't much dosh are they?
Have to admit, as we have teo, I haven't looked. Haven't got one up and running in yonks.

Afternoon folks/rubber ducks & good buddies:).

Done a bit this morning, now need more supplies;). So sorted the docs for insurance on the p38 and the bike, due in 2 weeks so will do them at the same time as going into town for supplies tomorrow, next week make pick a sunny day and take the bike for its test (never did it late last year no point really) We finally have a test center in town that does bikes which is good save riding 60km and back to the big town:D.

M had a phone call saying delivery incoming, She commented on wow that was quick, so the "white van man" drops off a box. She comments "this is heavy" gets the outer warping off then says " this smells oily" Yep they are mine. Just more stuff for the garage dear:oops::D.

parts for the summer garage project, still need a few more, of course;), but try not to make huge numbers appear on the bank statement is a challenge:oops:. Thing is, it dont matter but its a bit of a game:D.

J
W spent a fortune at the auction this time. I asked but she won't show me the receipt.;) At least it is her dosh she is spending. There being no pockets in shrouds!!!:D:D:D
And it's the last one until we come back!!:):):)

... I got some time in the mess I call my workshop, but it wasn't very productive . :)
I did punch a 32mm hole through a tube to see how good/bad my rear axle assembly would fit. Pretty snug TBH, but I am not looking forward to the fillet welds on the curve of the axle-tube.
I also tried to estimate "how" the 2WD unit would fit in the cage when the central section of the axle-tube is cut away. It doesn't look too bad. But I can already see that weld-cooling has put a bend in the axle tube end-to-end.

I messed about trying to determine "how" the drive to the 2WD unit would be aligned and arranged and discovered that it is very unlikely that I will be able to use the recently obtained SA 8-Spd as the IGH mid-drive.

Why? - Well, the SA 8-Spd has no disc brake mount to attach a sprocket to and I would have to affix something to the spoke flange instead. Problem is that the diameter of the spoke flange is so large that I would end up introducing a permanent gear-up to the whole drive system as the Output of any such arrangement would end up being > 25T in order to attach to the flange (probably 34T) and the 2WD unit is 22T. While that doesn't sound like a lot, it matters.

So I may very well have to use the N380 (which does have a disc brake mount) to which I can probably attach a 22T sprocket.
Another challenge will be the mounting of the N380 on a platform without the chain(s) fouling any framework.

It seems that there are problems in all directions. Great fun, isn't it?

Guid afternoon
Well having previously retired (July 21) early and having been tempted back to work in Oct 21
I have now really taken early retirement, last day at work today after around a year and a half
of sitting at a desk twideling my thumbs. Would have hung on if I had a Project to manage, but could not stand the boredom any longer.
.Looking forward to: Riding my Aprilia RSV Millle superbike; sea kayaking and wild swimming (when I capsize !); Ongoing preventative maintenance
on the Defender (labour of love.....really !)
And hunting the elusive seatrout in the salt; and the mundane tasks awaiting me around the house and in the garden.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh
